**GENERAL DESCRIPTION**:The Coordinator, Community Initiatives, a member of the leadership team within the Urban Health and Homelessness Services department, is responsible for direct supervision of 1 FTE position and peers, assisting management in leading and organizing team work and activities, monitoring and coordinating data entry and collection, assisting with completion of statistical reports, and supporting management in a range of other leadership functions. The position engages with partners from a range of community and clinical based settings to support the continued development and success of our community initiatives programs: Outreach, HIV/AIDS Prevention and peer programs. This position also includes providing support to other peer initiatives as needed.

**MAJOR DUTIES**:

- Provide leadership and direct supervision for assigned staff, which includes performance management functions
- Support and assist management in a range of leadership functions related to staff training, program evaluation and development, data collection and entry, and in networking with partner organizations in the community, hospitals and broader social service sectors.
- Assist with coordination of on-going professional development for program staff in areas of harm reduction, sexual health, community development and other relevant topics
- Maintain accurate records and complete reporting required by funders and manager
- Take part in research activities as required
- Represent the agency on appropriate coalitions and networks as assigned by supervisor
- Intervening and deescalating crisis situations
- Support in the running of other programs including participating in floor coverage, planning and facilitation of groups and supervising staff, providing back up coordination support
- Provide support and intervention to indirect reports (peers) when necessary. Organize restorative justice circles when needed.
- Prepare program funding reports. Monitor program expenditures, and ensure that accurate, timely program records, statistics and reports are maintained and reported to funders.

**REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS**:

- B.S.W./B.A. plus 2 years of supervisory experience in human services, including goal setting, workplans and performance appraisals, or combined equivalent of education and experience
- Minimum 4 years’ experience working with marginalized populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness, substance use and mental health issues, with at least one year in a case management position
- Demonstrated leadership skills and experience working on a multidisciplinary team
- Experience, alignment and commitment to harm reduction
- Excellent communication, initiative, judgment, and problem solving skills
- Experience building and maintaining cross-sector collaborative relationships
- Strong understanding, analysis and commitment to social justice issues, equity, anti-racism and anti
- oppression knowledge and practices
- Ability to work in a dynamic community-based setting with marginalized populations
- Experience in program development, implementation and evaluation is an asset
- Proficient with MS Office, and web-based data entry for case management and time/labour.
- Demonstrated abilities to multi-task, organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Certification in Conflict Prevention and Intervention or willingness to obtain certification
- Able to work evenings, weekends and on-call as assigned

**Salary**: $79,520.00 per year
