- Under the direction of the Manager, Human Resources, the Compensation & Benefits Consultant is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the Hospital’s compensation program and leading the planning, organization and direction of activities related to the benefits and Pension Plan including design and costing.
- The incumbent is responsible for consulting with leaders to provide trusted advice in the areas of compensation and benefits and to deliver exceptional front-line service for staff on all total rewards related matters; including responding to queries, offering consultation, guidance and interpretation of total rewards programs, processes, policies and plans.
- In consultation with the Manager of Human Resources, the incumbent shall identify, review, update, and implement Total Rewards policies and procedures to ensure strategic alignment with the corporate mission, values, and goals

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:
In addition to such other duties as may from time to time be assigned, and consistent at all times with the prescribed practices, procedures, and policies of the department and the Hospital, the incumbent shall under the direction of the Manager of Human Resources:

- Develop, implement, and administer QCH’s compensation plans, programs, policies, and procedures.
- Review QCH compensation practices and make strategic compensation recommendations to management based on market analysis and in-line with organizational compensation philosophy.
- Evaluate new and revised positions and provide job analysis, determining appropriate classifications, grade and pay rate of positions in accordance with the salary administration guidelines and applicable collective agreements.
- Facilitate compensation initiatives to implement changes or improvements to the compensation program or HR systems and processes to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and business plans.
- Provide compensation guidance to members of the Total Rewards team.
- Be involved in the administration of the Employee Benefits and Pension Plans (HOOPP). including processing enrolments and making changes to coverage and contributions.
- Ensure that Employee Benefits and Pension Plans payments, contributions, and transfers are accurately processed and documented; and assist with resolution of issues and problems.
- Liaise and collaborate with outside benefit vendors.
- Oversee the Total Rewards Analyst to provide advice, guidance, and training to employees regarding their Employee Benefits and Pension Plan.
- Regularly review Employee Benefits and Pension Plans and meet with insurance providers to discuss coverage needs and participates in the annual Employee Benefits renewal process.
- Promote a productive and efficient team environment where HR staff is recognized as a highly regarded and trusted sources.
- Keep up to date and advise on industry trends and developments.
- Demonstrates QCH values: collaboration, accountability, innovation, and respect.

**Education and Experience**:

- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (i.e. Human Resources, Business Administration, Health Administration, etc.)
- Three (3)+ years of progressive experience within Human Resources in a healthcare organization, including significant experience in compensation and benefits. Or
- In lieu of formal education, seven (7) years experience in Human Resources of which four (4) years been in compensation and benefits.

**Other Qualifications**
- Extensive knowledge of collective agreements, and corporate policies and procedures
- Extensive knowledge of position classification and job evaluation principles, practices, and procedures

**Preferred Qualifications**
- LEAN certification
- Professional designation (e.g. CHRP, CHRL)
- Recent experience with Pay Equity plan implementation and maintenance.
- Compensation and/or Payroll Certification (e.g. CCP, PCP)
