Nestled in the heart of the beautiful rural community of Walkerton is Brucelea Haven, a home for 144 residents. Brucelea Haven was built in 2003, replacing the existing Home for the Aged, thereby continuing a tradition of quality care in Bruce County.
The success of the operation of both Bruce County Long Term Care Homes is built on the foundation that this is a true ‘home’ for all its Residents. Home is a place where residents may live with dignity and in security, safety, and comfort and have their physical, psychological, social, spiritual and cultural needs adequately met. This strong foundational belief is encompassed and supported by the legislation and regulations highlighted in “The Residents’ Rights” and the “Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021”
Both homes operate as municipal homes, and the not-for profit structure allows for a level of care that is of exceptional quality while also being transparent in operation and accountability.

About the Job

Reporting to the Administrator, the Environmental Services Manager is responsible for organizing, directing, supervising, and managing all aspects of the Maintenance, Laundry and Housekeeping departments in one of the Long Term Care Facilities. The incumbent coordinates department programs, activities such as facility repairs and maintenance programs, and addresses any structure and infrastructure required needs. The incumbent participates on the Health & Safety committee, in multidisciplinary meetings and quality assurance programs. The Manager ensures the facility and grounds comply with local codes, ordinances and safety regulations and is responsible for adhering to relevant legislation and regulations.

**Requirements**:
Two year post-secondary degree or diploma
Knowledge of evidence-based practices and/or, if there are none, prevailing practices relating to housekeeping, laundry and maintenance, as applicable
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity
Facilities Management Certificate (FMC)
Five years of previous work experience in facility maintenance, preferably in a LTC or hospital setting
Previous experience managing in a unionized setting
Solid knowledge of legislative regulations and codes relating to building/facilities
Familiarity with Health & Safety legislation and applicable regulations
Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress of all direct reports
Ability to identify issues and implement creative and strategic solutions to overcome problems
Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret goals, objectives, and policies
Ability to supervise and motivate a team to achieve and exceed their goals
Experience with budget preparation and management
Demonstrated time management skills
Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering, as well as inventory control of these items
Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
Audiometric Testing completed within 90 days of starting position
Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
TB 2 Step Skin Test
