The Schwartz Reisman Institute for Technology and Society is a highly specialized research, policy and solutions initiative at the University of Toronto that draws on world-class research expertise across multiple academic divisions; regional, national, and international academic partners; and commercial and community organizations and translates research into concrete solutions and policy guidance. **Your opportunity**:
As Research Engagement Officer, you will play a critical role in supporting research operation activities, driven by our mission of ensuring that advanced technologies benefit everyone. Reporting to the Executive Director of the Schwartz Reisman Institute for Technology & Society and supervised by the Associate Director, Research Engagement, the Research Engagement Officer works to ensure research activities remain on track and are well executed. You will maintain a comprehensive awareness of the portfolio of research interests across our community and of the program opportunities and services available to mobilize and amplify researchers affiliated with the Institute.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Promoting research initiatives to increase program visibility and reputation
- Researching, analyzing and recommending grant opportunities
- Supporting grant writing; Preparing written materials for research events
- Coordinating logístical details required for project implementation and program activities; Coordinating the preparation of research operations and project status reports
- Providing detailed information to faculty and administrative staff on research programming and activities; Coordinating with communications staff to maintain information on a website and social media platforms; Generating reports and maintaining information in databases
- Determining logístical details and activities for events and/or programming; Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow-up items
- Collaborating on cost estimates; Tracking expenditures for operating budget

**Essential Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's Degree or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum three years relevant and recent experience performing a range of activities supporting a research environment such as grant writing, project management, event administration, and liaising with critical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience tracking project schedules and keeping stakeholders apprised of project progress.
- Experience with the administration of research programming.
- Experience managing registration and the logistics of virtual meetings/webinars using software such as Zoom and MS Teams.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and to take initiative with mínimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to take full accountability for assigned tasks.
- Demonstrated advanced skills in Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and databases.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and time-management skills, with ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
