What you'll do:
- Provides independent legal services to assigned clients involved in straightforward (routine or midlevel complexity that do not have a CAT component) litigation or other legal matters- Confidently defends Aviva in first party litigation matters.- Leads the handling of an assigned portfolio of straightforward litigation or other legal matters designated for settlement or resolution, in compliance with:
- professional standards governing licenced paralegals, Law Society of Ontario, LAT/SABS;- civil court procedural rules; and,- Aviva strategies, processes and standards.- At the earliest point in litigation or other legal matters, firmly establishes and maintains the most effective strategy to influence the desired outcome.- Conducts all necessary and appropriate examinations and hearings; formulates and presents oral and written legal arguments at LAT case conference / hearings, mediations, arbitrations and settlement negotiations.- Researches the law applicable to assigned matters, prepares legal documents and correspondence on straightforward legal matters as required.- Meets and communicates regularly with clients; ensures superior client satisfaction.-
- Liaises between external parties and claims operations.- Delivers expense and indemnity management benefit and service to the Claims operation that is superior to external law firms.

What you'll bring:
- A minimum of two years’ experience working in the area of personal injury law- Superior knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure, LAT/SABS- The ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.- Licensed Paralegal (P1)- Bachelor’s degree, and- Member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario- Capability to handle straightforward litigation, arbitration, and/or LAT case conferences / hearings- Understanding of Canadian legal processes. Knowledge of current insurance law issues.
