**Contract Length**: September 1, 2023, to July 31, 2024

**Hours per Week**: 14 hours per week; the work schedule shall be mutually agreed on with the Executive Director (excludes 2 weeks off for winter holidays)

**Pay**:$18.00 per hour plus 4% vacation

We are seeking a part-time Research Assistant to join the research team and support it to:

- Expand knowledge of how SLSC and its members are situated within a colonial context;
- Evaluate current practices within SLSC’s network to explore capacity to better support and advocate with and for federally sentenced Indigenous Peoples; and,

**Research Assistant Duties**:Under the supervision of the Executive Director, working with SLSC’s Outreach Coordinator as needed, the Research Assistant will:

- Coordinate research and administrative activities in collaboration with the research team (e.g., organizing virtual and in-person meetings and interviews; identify prospective participants and Consultants)
- Conduct research and literature reviews
- Assist in the data collection and analysis processes
- Conduct supplemental interviews and/or survey key stakeholders, as needed
- Assist with the development of the final report

**Qualifications**:

- Pursuing or completed degree in Indigenous Studies, Criminology, or other related fields
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the colonial impact on the criminal justice system as it pertains to Indigenous Peoples is an asset
- Experience in research and data analysis
- Able to work well independently and as part of a team
- Familiar with Microsoft Office and basic computer skills
- High level of written and verbal communication skills
- High level of organizational and time management skills
- French and/or other language skills are an asset
- Resident of Ottawa preferred

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 11 months

**Salary**: $18.00 per hour
