Manager and Privacy Officer (parental leave coverage 12 to 18 months)

Our busy cardiology practice is seeking a skilled Operational and Privacy Manager for a parental leave contract. This role is vital in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations while maintaining strict compliance with privacy regulations in a healthcare setting. Here's a summary of the job description:
Operations Manager:
- Onboard staff and obtain appropriate certificates for clinical practice
- Manage day-to-day clinical activities
- Ensure patient consent, ethical review and good clinical practice adherence
- Serve as project manager for new and lean initiatives including procure space and equipment
- Work with staff to develop and implement clinical and research workflow
- Provide training and guidance on protocols/processes
- Support staff during technical challenges
- Lead data collection and review key performance indicators
- Aid staff in the completion of incidence and adverse event reports
- Participate in debriefs and team meetings
Privacy Officer:
- Keep up-to-date and facilitate compliance with PHIPA and FOI
- Review vendor agreements to ensure adequate privacy terms are included
- Conduct privacy impact assessments and threat risk assessments with security
- Oversee PACE activities related to the implementation of, and operational procedures adherence to Ontario privacy law and - PACE privacy policy
- Provide staff annual privacy training
- Investigate and manage privacy breaches through communication with staff and impacted patients
- Audit users in EMR systems for compliance with privacy practices
- Facilitate remediation and considers disciplinary actions when appropriate
- Tracks privacy incidents and themes and submit mandatory annual reporting statistics to IPC
- Liaise with Privacy Commissioner, regulatory Colleges, police, lawyers and media
- Respond to inquiries from staff and public about information practices
- Respond to requests of an individual for access to or correction of their health information
**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
