Fundraiser Consultant

**Overview**
**Responsibilities**
- **Fund development and grant writing (70%)**
- Seek grants and fund development strategies from local, provincial, and federal sources that support recreational activities and facilities. Organize campaigns to raise funds for recreation programs. Recruit corporate sponsorships by approaching sports/recreational organizations and local businesses to secure partnerships and/or in-kind donations to support programs.
- Establish partnerships with local schools, nonprofits, government agencies, and businesses to collaborate on recreational initiatives.
- Collaborate with service providers and organizations offering educational, health, or social services to provide complementary activities and resources.
**Community Engagement and Advocacy (20%)**
- Empower, enrich and support community development strategies in collaborations with Neighbourhood Recreation Leaders.
- Use a community led approach for implementation of recreation opportunities by seeking input from community members on recreational needs, preferences, and areas for improvement.
- Promote Programs using social media, flyers, community meetings, and door-to-door outreach to raise awareness about available recreational programs.
- Advocate for resources by attending town halls, meeting with local officials, and participating in discussions to advocate for funding and support for community-based recreational needs.
**Administration and Reporting (10%)**
- Track program outcomes by measuring and reporting on program participation, community feedback, and resources to show the impact of recreational activities.
**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Recreation, Community Development, Nonprofit Management, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience in fundraising or a related field is preferred.
- Three (3) years of experience in fundraising, community programming, recreation, youth services, or nonprofit work
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to engage and communicate effectively with diverse community members, partners, and stakeholders.
- Cultural Competency and Sensitivity: Understanding and respecting the cultural, social, and economic backgrounds of a diverse community.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Experience working with community partners, volunteers, and local organizations to achieve common goals.
- Advocacy Skills: Ability to represent and communicate the needs of the community to stakeholders, including government agencies and policymakers.
- Bilingualism a strong asset; French, Arabic, Somali, Creole, or other languages commonly spoken among Black communities in Ottawa will be considered an asset
- Proficiency in Technology: Comfortable using software for program tracking, reporting, social media, and communication.
**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months
Pay: Up to $10,700.00 per year
