**Your opportunity**:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Residence Student Support (SRSS), the Residence Community Support Coordinator (RCSC) is a live-in and on-call position, that works to create a positive living and learning environment for residents at UTM. The incumbent will support holistic student development in residence through Student Housing & Residence Life's community standards model, student wellness initiatives, and behaviour management practices. The RCSC is responsible for leading the initiatives of Work Study Students focused on promoting and maintaining positive and healthy student behaviour.

They will collaborate with the SRSS creating the overall vision andstrategy for residence student conduct, student support, case management and proactive programming focused on wellness. Working collaboratively with the Residence Life Team, the RCSC will develop, implement and assess a comprehensive student support model that specifically addresses the myriad issues faced by students as they live and learn in the residence community.

Hours of Work: Regular office hours Monday to Friday. Regular evening and weekend work to coordinate operations and support students living in a 24/7 residence environment. Participate in on-call for emergencies.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Advising students on personal and academic issues by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences
- Advising on correct disciplinary action to be taken against residents who breach policies and/or cause damage to the facilities
- Keeping well-informed on crisis intervention and emergency protocols
- Keeping well-informed on residence life policies
- Fostering cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts
- Providing basic support and general referrals to individuals in distress

**Essential Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum three years of relevant experience (combination of para-professional and professional experience is acceptable) living and/or working in an education setting. Experience in a university residence setting is preferred.
- Experience planning and facilitating workshops/programs/seminars
- Experience dealing with emergency situations and crisis response
- Experience advising or supporting student staff or student groups
- Ability to interact, communicate and build partnerships with students, parents, university staff and faculty.
- Comfortable working in an unpredictable and often stressful environment
- Proven ability to deal with matters of extreme sensitivity and confidentiality
- Demonstrated leadership and crisis management skills
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Commitment to improving and enhancing the residence experience

**Assets (Nonessential)**:

- SafeTalk and/or mental health first aid trained
- First Aid & CPR trained
- Familiarity with eRezLife, StarRez and VingCard
- Experience working with diverse student communities andinternational students
