**Why GMF is the place for you**

At GMF, we empower our people to create change where it has the most impact - municipalities. GMF is a $1.6 billion permanent endowment from the Government of Canada, managed at arm's length, making it nimble and available for higher-risk, higher-impact initiatives. A further $530M investment into GMF to support the National Adaptation Strategy was announced in November 2022. Our team is committed to helping local governments switch to sustainable practices faster. GMF is the cornerstone program of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM).

Our unique mix of funding, resources, and training gives municipalities the tools they need to build resiliency — and create better lives for Canadians. Through GMF, municipalities have reduced carbon emissions; built better transportation assets; constructed efficient and resilient buildings; diverted waste from landfill; made previously unusable land available for development; and improved soil and water quality.

**You in this role**:
The Project Coordinator, Capacity Development, supports the development and delivery of programming to support Green Municipal Fund (GMF) capacity building and knowledge objectives; helps mobilize knowledge through both peer-to-peer and broad reach learning activities; and uses and develops innovative methods for knowledge transfer, brokering and dissemination. The Project Coordinator conducts research, offers administrative and logístical support, reviews and analyses project reports, and supports the development and delivery of information resources and learning activities. The Project Coordinator plays a key coordination role in major knowledge sharing activities, such as the FCM Sustainable Communities Conference, the FCM Sustainable Communities Awards, and GMF webinars.

The work at FCM includes FCM becoming an even more member-driven organization that balances the realization of its goals with a people-centered approach. The incumbent embodies FCM’s commitment to being a healthy, diverse, inclusive, and anti-racist organization. As a member of the team, the coordinator works in a manner that embraces these values, the corporate culture and the passion for FCM’s mandate.

**What you’ll be doing**:

- Supports the development and delivery of small group peer-to-peer learning and broad reach learning activities in priority areas (e.g. building retrofits, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, high efficiency buildings, district energy, sustainable transportation, sustainable land use).
- Supports the development and delivery of knowledge tools, training materials and information resources (e.g. guidebooks, case studies, training materials).
- Develops and delivers learning activities online and in person with support (e.g. workshops, seminars, webinars, the Sustainable Communities Conference sessions).
- Conducts research and develops reports on best practices in municipal sustainability and capacity building programming, and conducts interviews as needed.
- Reviews and analyzes GMF-funded initiatives to identify best practices and lessons learned for knowledge sharing and capacity building.
- Extracts and analyzes internal database information to inform knowledge programming.
- Supports municipal peer learning programming: both learning activities (e.g. in-person and online trainings) and membership management (inquiries, tracking milestone completion, recruiting and on-boarding new members).
- Supports innovation in delivery of awareness raising activities.
- Coordinates the FCM Sustainable Communities Awards program.
- Supports the development and management of online knowledge resources.
- Promotes inter-unit collaboration, information sharing and knowledge brokering activities.
- Responsible for conduct aligned to FCM’s core competencies and business values.

**Your skills make us better**:

- University degree in urban planning, social sciences, political science, environmental studies/environmental science, environmental/civil engineering, information management or equivalent life experience.
- One to three (1-3) years’ experience in conducting research, developing written materials for a professional audience and coordinating the delivery of learning activities (in person and/or online)
- Familiarity with one or more of GMF’s funding sectors: energy, climate change
