The Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) is seeking Project Coordinator with the scientific and business management expertise to coordinate the development of a new province-wide initiative called the Association of Ontario Tumour Biobanks (AOTB). AOTB is a proposed network of Ontario-based oncology biobanks operating under a central coordinating centre at OICR. Reporting to the Provincial Principal Investigator (PI) and Associate Director of the Ontario Tumour Bank (OTB), the Project Coordinator will organize activities needed to form AOTB and facilitate communication amongst its members and stakeholders. Once launched, the project coordinator will support the activities of the collaborative community and facilitate utilization of AOTB products and services to help accelerate oncology research in Ontario and beyond.

**The responsibilities include**:
Working with OTB/OICR staff and leadership to finalize the AOTB strategy and execute and operational model:
- Assist with the development of a business plan to launch AOTB
- Facilitate meetings including invitations, creating agendas and documenting minutes
- Develop a portal to facilitate communication, and to document and share inventories of products and services from member sites, protocols and other documents such as the Charter, member contact list, meeting minutes, informed consent forms and fee schedules
- Assist with the request for a dedicated Patient Partner and liaise with OICR’s Patient and Family Advisory Council
- Prepare periodic progress reports and performance metrics for the AOTB Governing Council, Scientific Advisory Committee, and OICR leadership
- Prepare financial reports and other documents to permit transparent auditing
- Organize AOTB workshops to facilitate communication among members and stakeholders and optimize AOTB activities once launched
Supporting AOTB working groups:
- Set up meetings, establish Terms of Reference and develop deliverables and timelines to finalize the Charter
- Track progress and prepare reports to anticipate risks and resolve problems
- Work with Legal/Technology Transfer departments at stakeholder centres to complete contractual agreements
- Develop a federated catalogue of assets held by each of the participating biobank
- Compile participant cohorts, samples and associated data as well as specialized derivation services such as TMA construction, IHC and omic analysis, liquid biopsy characterization, and a shared multi-omics database
- Contribute to establishing a federated pathology review service, a shared client inquiry and sample/data request system, a cross-bank quality control and audit system, and the development of a dedicated website.
Promoting AOTB to prospective members and research clients:
- Develop the AOTB ‘Concierge Service’ with the central coordinating centre at OICR led by OTB and OICR
- Create processes to monitor activities and facilitate communication with partners and stakeholders including
- support for coordination of cross-bank research requests from academic and industry clients
- Support cross-training opportunities networking and mutual problem-solving and networking events
- Participate in joint grant and charitable fundraising, communicate fundraising opportunities with AOTB members
**Qualifications**:
- At minimum, completion of a bachelors degree in health-related discipline or recognized equivalent required
- A degree in business administration (e.g., MBA) and/or project management professional (PMP) certification preferred
- At minimum at least 2 years practical and related experience required
- Experience in research and project management working in an academic hospital system, university or in industry preferred
- Familiarity with principles of research involving human participants including research ethics requirements, regulatory affairs, standard operating procedures, and contracts such as Material Transfer Agreements preferred
- Knowledge of the Ontario biomedical research ecosystem and familiarity with biospecimens, clinical and research data, biobanking and oncology research preferred
- Experience coordinating interdisciplinary teams preferred, demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a teamrequired
- Attention to detail and strong organizational abilityrequired
- Superior verbal and written communication skills required
- Excellent organizational, writing, problem-solving and communication skills required
