**Job Summary**:Our WestRock Early Careers Manufacturing Intern/Co-op will gain hands-on experience in WestRock’s manufacturing facility for flexographic printing plates focusing in areas such as continuous improvement, cost savings, environmental, and/or sustainability efforts. Throughout the assignments, there will be a heavy emphasis placed on safety, quality, teamwork/growth, and continuous improvement. By the end of the assignment, this experience will have positively contributed to your curriculum and career goals in preparation for life after college.

Our PrePress facility operates on a 24/5 schedule. The summer intern will work a 40-hour week and be flexible to work days, afternoons and/or night shift from May - August 2024 inclusive.

**Major Job Responsibilities**:
**Business Excellence**
- Analyze various data sets to identify key insights and provide value-based solutions.
- Review and audit work instructions and safe work procedures, updating as needed.
- Seek out and promote innovative solutions to operational challenges and support maintenance activities with a focus on preventative maintenance.
- Identify root cause problems through troubleshooting issues to identify areas of opportunities.
- Report project discovery findings to managers, teams, and senior leadership
- Serve as safety champion by understanding and enforcing department and plant safety policies.
- Participate in JHSC facility audits and meetings. Reviewing current safety documentation and systems, updating as needed.
- Manage day-to-day activities of assigned roles, complete project tasks, and implement new processes.
- Gain exposure to one or more of the following fields: Process Audit/Controls, Supply Chain, Procurement, Maintenance & Reliability, Health and Safety, Sustainability.

**Technical Skills**:

- Comfortable working in a Mac based environment.

- Comfortable working in a manufacturing work environment
- Be able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations

**Experience**:

- Preferred: Minimum course experience as recommended per position in related field
