Job purpose: Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Exhibits and Facilities Coordinator is responsible for ensuring museum exhibits and facilities (or spaces) are maintained to meet the needs and expectations of our constituents. The key objectives for this position are to provide a quality exhibit experience, ensuring exhibits are consistently functional, safe, clean, and welcoming at all times for guests of all abilities.

Duties and responsibilities

1. Exhibits (40%) - Perform preventative maintenance on exhibit infrastructure and spaces;
- Perform repairs to exhibit infrastructure, spaces and accompanying props;
- Work with the Education Manager in identifying quality materials and supplies used in exhibits and programming to ensure their longevity and durability;
- Work with the Education Manager in identifying potential safety risks and impacts to people, equipment and exhibit infrastructure by props and programming materials;
- Participate in the planning, installation and teardown of temporary exhibits brought into the museum, supporting logístical efforts;
- Facilitate the repair or replacement of museum fixtures and exhibits requiring immediate attention;
2. Facilities and Operations (40%) - Secure materials and supplies required for maintenance and repair projects as needed;
- Complete weekly walkthrough of museum spaces to document repairs required;
- Coordinate and communicate to contracted museum cleaning team service regarding schedules;
- Coordinate and communicate with City of Saskatoon (or designate) through City of Saskatoon building operators, about any facility infrastructure work required;
- Demonstrate problem solving and creative solutions for repair and maintenance challenges;
- Maintain the preventative maintenance plan for museum spaces and exhibits;
- Continue to develop procedural manuals for maintenance activities, troubleshooting exhibit failure and projects;
- Maintain procedural manuals for weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual maintenance;
3. Administration (20%) - Work with Operations Manager to develop procedures and schedules for speciality cleaning and repairs of exhibits, materials and spaces;
- Participate in annual budget and planning process;
- Participate on OHS Committee;
4. Other duties as assigned Qualifications Experience and Skills - Possess working knowledge of the safe operation of all tools and equipment used at Wonderhub. - Strong interpersonal skills and collaboration skills for working with staff, visitors, volunteers, and community partners. - Strong communications skills and ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders regarding logistics and operations. - Creative problem-solving skills; proven ability to recommend and implement process improvements and new initiatives. - Strong organizational and time management skills and excellent attention to details. - Proficient computer and technology skills.

Training and Certification - Class 5 driver’s license Other training considered an asset - Aerial Lift and Aerial Platform certification - First Aid CPR-C - WHMIS Working conditions The position is full time (30 hours per week).

Starting wage of $24/hour and eligible for benefits and group retirement savings plan following successful completion of a probationary period.

Other requirements: - Schedule flexibility for weekdays, evenings and weekends depending on the operational needs of the museum and nature of work which must be carried out. A schedule will be determined in partnership with the supervisor. - Class 5 driver’s license. Tools and equipment used: - Regular use of computers, televisions, cameras, lighting and audio equipment, hand and power tools, ladders, cleaning products and equipment, small motors and microcontrollers, building systems.

Environment: - Work may take place in hot, cold, light, dark, quiet and loud environments. - This position also typically involves walking, lifting, bending, kneeling, sitting and standing for periods. - Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform their duties. - Must have the ability to go to the museum after-hours for emergency situations.
