We are looking for a Technical Officer to support our Construction Research Centre. The Technical Officer would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

NRC Construction is implementing the “Platform to Decarbonize the Construction Sector at Scale” to accelerate and scale up new technologies to help transition the Canadian construction sector towards decarbonization and contribute to the emerging low-carbon economy. It will also establish new codes, standards, specifications, and guidelines to position the sector to achieve its 2050 greenhouse gas (GHG) carbon reduction targets. These investments will help spur the growth of Canada’s clean technology sector and help achieve Canada’s international commitments to reduce GHG emissions.

The CCHT full scale test house facilities are used to test and evaluate new technologies which support improvements for energy efficiency, indoor air quality, thermal comfort, and aging in place. This position within the CCHT team offers an opportunity to work as part of a highly skilled and motivated team which is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and capability development for these impressive facilities.

In this role as Instrumentation and Calibration Technical Officer, you would also be responsible for:

- Supporting the day-to-day operations of the Construction Research Centre Calibration Laboratory;
- Planning, documenting, and completing the required instrumentation calibrations;
- Supporting the implementation of custom data acquisition and control systems used in the facilities;
- Providing technical expertise for defining requirements and selecting scientific instrumentation, components, software and test equipment;
- Analysing and reviewing test data ensuring that systems are operating within specified parameters.

The incumbent is expected to work autonomously with general guidance from management and/or project managers, and to effectively liaise with clients. **Screening Criteria**:
**Education**:
College diploma in an applied science technology program in electrical, electronics, instrumentation, or other discipline related to the position.

An equivalent combination of work related experience, training, and education may also be considered.

**Experience**:

- Experience with the selection, installation, and wiring of sensors and scientific instrumentation;
- Experience with the maintenance, calibration, operation, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic measurement instrumentation;
- Experience using software tools such as Excel to analyze and manipulate data;
- Experience developing operational procedures and electrical diagrams;
- Experience in the use of scientific computing software such as LabVIEW, Matlab, C++, VB, VBA would be considered an asset.

- Knowledge of troubleshooting and repair of electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical systems;
- Ability to review real-time and historical data from building systems and to identify anomalies and appropriate solutions;
- Ability to use MS Office Suite for the purposes of system documentation and reporting test results;
- Ability to perform complex task planning and scheduling for project activities.
