The COA has been an active part of the Ottawa community for over 45 years, tackling issues important to older adults in areas such as education, health, housing, transportation, income security, and francophone affairs._

The Human Resources Coordinator will lead the establishment of a robust human resources framework. This role will address the needs of our existing 6 paid staff and 150 volunteers and position the organization for growth in this area. Priorities will include conducting a personnel satisfaction survey and a diversity audit of all paid and volunteer personnel, addressing the adjustment to a hybrid working model, creating a communications plan and developing resources toward growing the COA volunteer base, and spearheading a plan for a greater presence in the community.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Human Resources**
- Execute and establish a human resources framework
- Develop and conduct a personnel satisfaction survey
- Develop and conduct a diversity audit
- Implement measures to improve satisfaction and diversity
- Cultivate a network of dedicated and supported personnel (staff and volunteers)
- Guide the volunteer management processes (recruitment, retention, engagement, and support)
- Regularly update the volunteer database
- Collaborate with the staff, board and appropriate committees
- Effectively convey the organization’s mission, vision, and programs

**Communications**
- Create a communications strategy for the recruitment of volunteers and engagement of community members
- Support the development of promotional materials including videos, brochures, social media posts, and newsletters content
- Maintain positive relations and communications with personnel

**Requirements**:

- English Essential - Bilingualism (French/English) is a strong asset
- Sincere enjoyment of older adults including the ability to listen and understand what is of value to them
- A clear interest in making a difference in making Ottawa a more age-friendly city
- Superb written and verbal communication skills
- Strong time-management skills and multitasking ability
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, database experience, communications software (e.g., Constant Contact), and aptitude to learn new software and systems
- Solid interpersonal skills
- Relevant post-secondary education or experience (e.g. human resources, volunteer management)
- Non-profit experience is an asset
