**JOB OVERVIEW**

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Cops for Cancer, the Specialist - Cops for Cancer will work with a national team accountable for one of Canada’s most unique cycling tours by implementing and executing Cops for Cancer strategies and achieving targets as outlined in the annual campaign plan. With a focus on Tour de Coast, the incumbent is responsible for managing and motivating high performing volunteer led organizing committees, engaging and motivating schools, community groups and program participants.

What is Cops for Cancer?

**WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING**:
Executes Cops for Cancer strategies and activities for CCS and is responsible for achieving assigned tour revenue and expense targets.
- Acts as the relationship manager for assigned Cops for Cancer stakeholders to ensure they are aligned with the Cops for Cancer revenue development plan.
- Displays exceptional coordination, implementation, and execution of established national Cops for Cancer strategies.
- Actively responds and takes initiative on fundraising opportunities with volunteer organizing committees, sponsors, participants, and donors ensuring appropriate cultivation.
- Participates in team initiatives to revise or enhance existing Cops for Cancer strategies or to implement new activities and to conduct regular evaluations of tour activities.
- Takes a donor centric approach to all fundraising activities and consistently delivers effective stewardship and engagement practices.
- Uses data to drive decisions and always act within the best interest of the Canadian Cancer Society and those we serve.
- Represents CCS at Cops for Cancer events and on assigned tour(s)

Operations, Administration and Financial Management
- Reviews revenue reports on a regular basis ensuring that tour revenue targets are being met or exceeded. Reports material variances and proposes mitigation strategies.
- Tracks and monitors expense budget for assigned tour(s) in conjunction with the Senior Manager, Cops for Cancer. Reports material variances and proposes mitigation strategies.
- Maintains the integrity of the CRM by complying with policies and procedures for data collection and entry systems.

New Business Development
- Actively solicits and secures new tour sponsors, schools, and community events for assigned tour(s) in support of the Canadian Cancer Society.
- Proactively identifies partnership opportunities to increase revenue within portfolio and beyond.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Post-secondary education such as acquiring a college diploma, as well as specialized technical/professional training and/or certification, or equivalent.
- More than 1 year, up to and including 3 years - some practical or job-related experience
- Knowledge and understanding of special event fundraising as a component of an overall community giving program.
- Experience with community giving fundraising strategies and integrated fundraising campaigns.
- Experience working with volunteer committees to deliver operational and revenue objectives.
- Exceptional project management, event management and relationship management skills.
- Experience with securing and fulfilling special event sponsorships.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills and proven interpersonal skills, including presentation and facilitation skills.
- Negotiation, problem-solving and diplomacy skills to resolve issues with stakeholders.
- A demonstrated donor centric approach to fundraising.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement and maturity in dealings with a variety of constituents.
- Ability to work confidently under pressure to adhere to deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to pay attention to details are necessary attributes.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that will allow evening and weekend work.
- Flexibility to perform other job requirements as assigned.
- Ability to travel within Canada - i.e. a valid Driver’s License.
- Working knowledge of Salesforce is considered an asset.
- Experience delivering multi-day road cycling events is an asset.
