**Position Description**:
The Programming Assistant is responsible to assist with the planning the delivery of all active living programs and services and will support with the day-to-day administrative responsibilities tied to planning programs. This position will have a combination of weekday daytime, weekday evening, and weekend hours to support such responsibilities.

**Accountabilities**:

- Provide input into programs, services and performance evaluation; recommend changes to programs and services to support goals and objectives of section, division or department
- Support the organization and delivery of Active Living Programs including fitness and community based activities with the support of the full-time Program Team
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, Programmers and others to ensure seamless delivery of facility activities, services and programming
- Assist with training, orientation, and guidance of part-time Program Associates and support staff
- Participate in the development of program best practices, procedures, staff orientation and support materials
- Maintain and update the seasonal planning schedule used by the full-time Programming team
- Support with organizing and tracking equipment and supplies inventory
- Contribute to the coordination of scheduling staff and special resources
- Work with internal and external customers, including affiliated groups to support section/division goals and objectives of the master plan
- Provide technical assistance to part-time staff, fitness instructors and external parties
- Collect, organize and summarize data and statistical information for program review and evaluation
- Other duties as assigned

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- Two-year diploma in Recreation and Leisure or a related field with a minimum of 1 year experience with recreation or active living programming administration, preferably in a recreation services or public sector environment. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Strong commitment to providing quality customer service with excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients, customers, partners, and team members
- Communication skills to respond professionally to demands with tact while maintaining the integrity of others
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently in a team setting
- Ability to handle changing priorities and frequent interruptions
- Strong organizational skills to deal with fluctuating volumes and pace of work
- Able to multi-task in a fast paced environment as part of a creative, problem solving team
- Understanding of facility operations, sports and/or event administration
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel; experience with ActiveNet, or another recreation registration system an asset
- Thorough knowledge of Kitchener and Waterloo and City of Waterloo facilities and programs an asset
- Standard First Aid Certificate with CPR C and AED (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability and willingness to travel between worksites, as necessary, utilizing reliable, safe and efficient methods of transportation is required to perform the job
- A satisfactory police criminal and judicial matters check will be required as a condition of hire
- **Hours of Work**: This position will work 35 hours per week, a flexible schedule is required as shifts will vary and be scheduled on days, evenings, and weekends to meet programming and operational needs. Scheduling flexibility is required and equivalent time off during weekdays will be granted on a 1:1 ratio for hours worked evenings and weekends.

**Work Location**: The successful applicant will be required to work out of WMRC and RIM Park.
