**Program Director Job Summary**

Under the overall direction of the Executive Director, the Program Director is accountable for the administration, management, and coordination of a group of community programs. The Director is responsible for the planning, fiscal management, and personnel administration of employees to maintain these programs.

This includes liaising with government officials, professionals, stakeholders, and personnel within CLV and throughout other organizations at senior operational levels. This position requires strong advocacy skills to ensure appropriate funding and supports are available.

**Responsibilities**
The Program Director provides for the overall planning and organization of the delivery of service, including Human Resources management under the guidance of the Human Resource Director.

The scope of this position is governed by the specific needs of individuals and their families, program mandates, and CLV and Board policies. Adherence to all applicable laws and regulations such as standards of CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities), Community Living BC, Community Care Facilities Act, WorkSafe BC Regulations, and the Community Social Services Bargaining Association.

The Program Director supports supervisors and managers to exercise independent decision-making and problem solving within their scope of responsibility. Through coaching, mentoring and accountability, the Program Director provides leadership to a variety of teams to ensure the individual and team's performance fosters a culture of continuous improvement by facilitating meetings, training, team building activities and identifying areas for professional growth.

**Qualifications**:

- Two years post-secondary education in a related field and/or an equivalent combination of education, training and relevant experience
- A minimum of two years in a senior leadership position
- Experience in community living services is an asset

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Sound knowledge of human resources.
- Knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations, acts and policy.
- Working knowledge of implementing and administering a collective agreement
- Ability to recruit, manage, and lead a variety of teams
- Ability to provide formal and informal feedback.
- Ability to interact effectively with individuals, staff, families, professionals and community
- Ability to manage teams through complex and sometimes stressful situations
- Ability to work independently, and in a team environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced setting with competing priorities.
- Experience with overseeing and working within a budget.
- Demonstrated knowledge of community living principles.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to Develop positive and respectful working relationships with individuals, families, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to facilitate meetings and present publicly.
- Effective conflict resolution skills and experience in crisis management.
- Proficiency with computers, MS Office, Excel, Word, Outlook, and other
- software programs such as ShareVision, Inclusion (Ibex).
- Ability to ensure that program delivery is in compliance with CLV's mission, vision and values
- This position requires full access to a vehicle and the ability to travel to a variety of sites throughout the Greater Victoria Region_
