**Responsibilities**:

- Prepare / Enforce policies and procedures with a focus of reviewing and updating them for continuous improvement
- Receive and maintain safety related certification training as needed
- Investigate and document all accidents, near misses, safety concerns, thoroughly and effectively and respond as required.
- Implement any preventive actions to address the root cause of investigations.
- Review and Maintain SDS Documentation for the facility
- Inspect equipment and machinery to observe any unsafe conditions and to ensure equipment meets legislative requirements.
- Review and coordinate the field testing and evaluations for all personal protective equipment for the facility and construction sites. Ensuring the purchase of good quality PPE that is effective in use and durability for the employees
- Maintain the stock of all personal protective equipment and safety supplies needed for the shop and field.
- Participate in monthly workplace inspections and ensure JHSC reps are completing their inspections
- Conduct and manage the Joint Health and Safety Committee. Safety Coordinator to be Management Co-chair of the JHSC committee.
- Conduct job hazards assessments, risk assessments, Ergonomic assessments as needed.
- Effectively manage return to work programs, working closely with the employees, their supervisors and WSIB to ensure employees health and safety.
- Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention.
- Act as the company contact for the Ministry of Labour
- Review and revise policy/procedures annually
- Ensure the training matrix is maintained
- Ensure all safety communication boards are up-to-date
- Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of Health and Safety

Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to asses risk and adherence to the legislative requirements

**Job Qualifications**
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
- Excellent organizational and motivational communication skills
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and applicable regulations as prescribed, and associated safety standards in NFPA, CSA, TSSA.
- Certification Standard First Aid and CPR HCP
- Certification of WSIB approved level 1 and 2 certifications
- Previous experience with Safety in an industrial and construction environment is essential.
