**Job title**: Manager, Quality Assurance and Purchasing

**Job description**:
**Product Quality System**:

- Develop, review and implement quality assurance policies and procedures to ensure compliance to SFCR (Safe Food for Canadians Regulations) and other regulatory standards
- Develop and implement risk mitigation and Preventive Control Plans, including requesting product sampling and laboratory analysis to assure food safety and compliance with regulations
- Liaise with government inspectors during audits or information requests
- Lead product recalls
- Implement and improve corrective action (CAPA) to remedy non-compliance (NC)
- Perform continuous improvements to the quality system
- Collaborate with other teams and departments to ensure the ongoing compliance of company operations, procedures and systems, e.g. tracking product non-compliance, quality issues, customer complaints
- Perform regular reviews of company processes as they relate to food safety and quality to ensure compliance
- Maintain food quality system and procedures up to date
- Implement and maintain a product quality/safety database

**Supplier Quality Management**:

- Lead the Vendor Approval process by conducting quality reviews and audits as necessary of new suppliers
- Lead the Product Approval process by requesting and classifying necessary documentation, such as spec sheets, certificates of analysis, food safety certificates, product information, catalogues, shelf life, etc.
- Ensure all new products are compliant to SFCR regulations, including their labels, allergen declarations, nutrition facts tables, as well as ensure that their product specs meet the Canadian microbiological and chemical tolerances
- Conduct regular reviews and audits of suppliers and products to ensure ongoing compliance with all food safety and quality standards

**Procurement**:

- Lead the purchasing function of all products & services for the company
- Liaise with Operations and Sales to ensure the right product is purchased at the right time
- Conduct regular reviews of the food quality/safety system & procedures - for the Procurement and Operations functions
- Improve the current PO (Purchase Order) system and ensure all purchase order information is entered correctly in the system and that all required product documentation is correctly filed in the system and available upon request

**Skills and Experience**:

- Minimum of two (2) years experience in QA or regulatory, food, pharmaceutical or medical device industry
- Degree in Food Science, Biology, Nutrition, or related discipline an asset
- Knowledge of the principles, practices and regulations pertaining to food safety (SFCR)
- High level of English and French communication (spoken and written)
- Skills needed: risk-based decision making, organization, attention to detail, ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions under pressure, ability to manage priorities and respect deadlines, be a team player.

**Work schedule**:

- 40 hours/week
- Monday to Friday, 9 am - 5 pm
- Possibility of remote work
