**Job Summary**:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Administrator to join our team. The Accounting Administrator is a key member of the finance team. Leveraging their knowledge of the Rail Industry, they perform many of SRY’s Freight Accounting functions. Additionally, this role is involved with a number of general accounting functions, including performing bank reconciliations, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and preparing and entering a variety of monthly adjusting entries, amongst other things.

**Responsibilities**:

- Performs duties associated with demurrage, car hire, railcar fleet reporting, and car repair reporting;
- Reviews carload/revenue reporting produced by Freight Accounting Administrator and records associated journals and prior month adjustments in ERP systems;
- Completes monthly bank account reconciliations;
- Prepares various month-end journal entries and accrual related to above functions;
- Prepares estimated car hire revenue and car hire expense for accrual purposes;
- Reviews actual car hire data, review claims and approve/decline based on car hire rules;
- Review final car hire expense reports and review accuracy of reclaims and resolve any discrepancies;
- Responsible for monthly switching settlement data exchange, including addressing any errors;
- Completes various monthly balance sheet account reconciliations;
- Prepares and makes entries for prepaid expenses and deferred rent;
- Prepare and file GST & PST returns;
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures; and
- Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor.

**Qualifications**:

- High school diploma or GED required.
- Accounting Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution and/or is a CPA student.
- Two (2) to 4 years of related field experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent computer proficiency MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.

Pay: $32.18-$36.92 per hour
