**Position Details**

**Background**
- We are expanding our Blackfoot language curriculum as part of our commitment to develop degree and diploma programs in the Blackfoot language in response to TRC Call to Action 16. A key aspect of this new curriculum is the creation of adult immersion programming to complement the existing class-based language courses. This may take the form of one-off language activities as determined by the co-ordinator. The MAP approach pairs a more fluent speaker (the Master/Mentor speaker) with a less fluent speaker (the Apprentice) for intensive one-on-one language work focussed on oral fluency in natural settings and daily activities in the community. **Position description**
- Consultation with Elders and community members about appropriate ways to develop adult immersion programming on campus. Consultation will take the form of in-person meetings and an online survey.
- Immersion course and program proposal development.
- Organizing and hosting language immersion activities on campus.
- Arranging and coordinating training for team members as relevant.
- Identifying, coaching and supervising immersion teams.
- Working both on campus and in the community on Blackfoot language revitalization programming.

This position offers the exciting opportunity to contribute to Blackfoot language sustainability by helping develop and run promising new approaches to adult Blackfoot language immersion. You will work with a small but dedicated team of committed individuals to help make this a reality. You will be supported by faculty members with expertise in Blackfoot language, second-language teaching methods, resource development, and curriculum building. You will also work together with staff in Iikaisskini Indigenous Services and the EleV Strategic Indigenous Learning Initiative.

**Position Qualifications**

**Requirements**:

- We are looking for someone with a strong interest in and commitment to Blackfoot Language Revitalization, preferably with experience in the area of language teaching and learning, adult immersion, curriculum and program development. Knowledge of the Blackfoot language is an asset.

We are looking for someone with an interest in investigating successful adult Blackfoot second language teaching and learning methods at the post-secondary level that bridge the academic and community settings, and a willingness to collaborate with colleagues, students and community members in developing innovative new courses and programming. Excellent communication, organization and administrative skills are a must.

**Starting Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE)**
- $4,772.00 - $5,403.00 monthly

**Full Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE)**
- $4,772.00 - $6,034.00 monthly (AUPE - Grade 11)
