Under the direction of the Controller, the Finance Administrator supports the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department. This role involves full cycle accounting functions in compliance with federal and provincial standards, responding to BIG Support tickets, handling monthly commissions, and maintaining records for the BIG Group of Companies. Additional responsibilities include administering accounts payable and receivable, producing monthly accounting reports, generating accurate monthly remittances, assisting with audit working papers, and ensuring timely invoicing.

**What does the Finance Administrator do?**
- Monitor & respond to commission related inquiries & tickets through Billing & Commissions’
- Operate_ Quickbooks_ to record, store, & analyze financial information
- Assist with the preparation, analyses, & payment commissions to branches & head office staff
- Retrieve, input, investigate, & reconcile data into commissions software
- Send payments to Vendors - ensuring payments are prepared & sent in a timely manner
- Prepare & post receipts, deposits, invoices, & refunds
- Review & process reimbursements
- Act as primary bookkeeper for the group of holding companies - tasks include reconciling bank accounts, recording transactions in Quickbooks, preparing financial statement reports, etc.
- Code, total, batch, enter, verify, & reconcile transactions such as accounts payable, cheques, invoices, bank statements, & commission statements
- Calculate, prepare, & issue documents related to clients, partners, and vendors, such as bills, invoices, commissions reports, account statements & other financial statements
- Respond to internal instant messages & phone communications in a timely manner
- Comply with federal & provincial accounting principles & standards (i.e., ASPE, ASNPO, etc.)
- Maintain positive, approachable, and trusting relationships with team members & other colleagues
- Demonstrate excellent customer service when interacting with all vendors & BIG employees

**Does this sound like you?**
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data
- Knowledge of ASPE** **outlines rules, standards, & principles that companies must follow when making financial statements
- Knowledge of office and administrative procedures/systems such as managing files and records, designing forms, and transcription
- Knowledge of Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and how it applies to collecting, using and disclosing personal information
- Ability to effectively use computer software (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on demonstrating a proficiency in Excel, Power Broker, Applied, Market Portals) to create and manage spreadsheets, reports, documents, databases, filing systems, calendars, correspondence, and video conferencing
- Ability to effectively use _Quickbooks _software
- Excellent interpersonal & communication (written and oral) skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent critical thinking & problem solving skills

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance, or related field required
- 0-2 years of proven experience in finance, accounting, and/or bookkeeping
- Strong computer skills, adaptable to multiple software platforms. Practical experience with accounting software (QuickBooks) & spreadsheets (MS Excel)
- Experience working in the Insurance Industry is an asset
