**Role Responsibilities**:
Are you passionate about ensuring the safety of individuals engaged in hazardous work, particularly in high-risk wildland fire situations?

We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Safety Program Consultant. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Wildfire Management Branch and operating under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Code. This pivotal role involves leading and supporting the strategic development, implementation, operation, and enhancement of the Forestry Division's Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management system.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Lead the development and implementation of OHS management systems.
- Identify safety hazards and liabilities in high-risk environments.
- Foster a safety culture and support training program development.
- Lead the development of Mental Health and Wellness initiatives as well as Diversity and Inclustion initiatives within the Division
- Provide supervision, mentorship, and OHS leadership to various stakeholders.
- Build and maintain effective internal and external relationships for an integrated approach to OHS.
- Lead and coordinate the Certificate of Recognition program in the Division
- Coordinate information sharing and training opportunities with external stakeholders.

**Qualifications**:
**Minimum requirements**:
This role requires a post-secondary education in OHS or a related field.**Equivalency**:

- A related two-year diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution and seven years related experience; or A related one-year certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution and eight years related experience**Additional Requirements**:

- Knowledge of OHS legislation, program development, implementation, and operation.
- 5-8 years of experience in an OHS-related role.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.**Assets**:

- Relevant technical competencies, such as proficiency in data analysis, incident investigation, inspections.
- OHS designation (CRSP, CRST, other applicable equivalent).

**Notes**:
This is a permanent, full-time role with the standard weekly work hours of 36.25, Monday to Friday. The incumbent may be requested to work overtime, evenings and weekends due to the emergency nature of wildfires.

Travel within the area and throughout the province will be required as part of your responsibilities to coordinate with Ministry staff and colleagues, other government departments, clients, and other external stakeholders.
