JUNIOR HEALTH AND SAFETY CONSULTANT

**RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES**
- Work with clients to create, update, and help maintain their current Safety Management System, following all applicable OHS regulation and legislation.
- Suggest updates to Policies and Procedures for clients highlighting any Industry Recommended Best-Practices
- Assist and deliver several components of a Health and Safety Management Systems including Safety Talks and Worker Orientations
- Prepare and update client training matrixes. Identify requirements for site specific worker training such as: Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, WHMIS, TDG, Fire Extinguisher Operation, Hearing Conservation, Lock-out Tag-out.
- Provide regular updates to the client and Senior Safety Advisor regarding progress on required duties and the status of any outstanding actions, including client program improvements
- Registration in or completion of a Certified COR Auditor training course. Assist in conducting Internal and External COR Audits
- Complete general Safety Management System administration including document file organization. Compile documents on near misses, inspections, investigations, and safety meetings. Report statistical safety information and key learnings to committees and client senior management
- Attend professional development courses, industry trade shows and safety association events
- Liaise with Industry Partners and engage in online social media networking

**QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE**
- Recently graduated from an Occupational Health and Safety Program
- Understanding of OHS Legislation and Regulations in Alberta
- Registration in or completion of COR Auditor Certification
- Obtain and maintain Standard First Aid and CPR Certification
- Other certifications as required from time to time by clients.

**PERSONAL SKILLS**
- Self-starter who can collaborate, give, and take direction.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple deadlines.
- Thrives on working in a fast-paced environment and adapting to change.
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills
- Computer experience in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Valid Driver’s Licence - clean

**MENTORSHIP ASSIGNMENT**
- 80% client time, 20% mentorship learning
- Agreement will be documented, signed, measured, and amended as required.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Shift work may be required.
- Out of town and overnight work may be required.

Closing Date: July 17, 2023.

Contract length: 12 months

**Salary**: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
