**About Us**:
Founded in 1988, VPI has provided working solutions to individuals and organizations for 30 years. We are based in Mississauga and have 17 branch locations across Southern Ontario.
We provide employment programs, assessments and supportive vocational services that help residents of Ontario improve job readiness, explore training and get back to work.
We facilitate several Employment Ontario programs to help job seekers find work and training opportunities. We also work directly with employers who are looking to hire. These free programs and services are provided at no cost to job seekers or employers
**What We Are Looking For**:
**Full-Time, contract - Career Specialist** position in our Etobicoke branch.
The Career Specialist is responsible for providing full-cycle and in-depth employment counseling on an individual and/or group basis while consistently meeting assigned MLTSD targets. The role is primarily accountable for client and case management using the internal CRM system. In addition, a Career Specialist provides information and direction on tools and resources available within the Employment Resource Centre, which can assist clients in conducting a job search. Achieves individual targets, which contributes to successfully meeting branch targets. This role is also responsible for the expenditure of personal support, as per the budget for the fiscal year.
**Key Job Functions**:
- Client and Case Management:_
- Conducts intake and needs assessment for clients accessing assisted services
- Assists clients in obtaining meaningful employment through individual or group employment counseling including resume critique, mock interviews, and referrals to pre-employment services
- Creates and monitors service plans and maintains real-time case management
- Monitors clients and supports them through to the successful completion of the individual goals set for them
- Critiques clients’ self-marketing tools and refers them to appropriate resources within the Employment Resource Centre (ERC) in accordance with their specific requirements
- Provides instruction and technical support to clients regarding available resources, such as business directories, resume writing manuals, relevant labour market information, and job search materials
- Promotes the branch’s ERC and VPI Learning Centre (eLearning) as well as other online resources
- May facilitate employment workshops, job fairs, employer sessions, and other events to prepare clients to obtain as well as maintain employment
- Refers clients to Job Matching Placement with Incentives (JMPI) program
- Refers clients out to other community services to support client needs and achieve service coordination target
- Keeps current with prevailing labour market conditions as well as new developments within local and regional labor markets to support service coordination and job development
- Achieving Targets:_
- Tracks, monitors and achieves individual and branch targets pertaining to the number of assisted participants, closures, percentage of participant suitability, percentage of service coordination as well as personal supports expenditure
- Maintains and shares information on available community services, including all services available through MLTSD, government ministries, and agencies
- Administrative and Other Tasks:_
- Completes administrative portion of intake within internal CRM, Smart Simple, as well as the service plans within the allocated time
- Maintains real-time, accurate case notes in Smart Simple according to internal policies and guidelines as well as funder criteria
- Responds to client inquiries and provides assistance in a timely manner, as required
- Other duties pertaining to the position, as required
- Consistently support the achievement of all branch targets
**To be successful in the role you will have**:
- A Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Employment Counseling, Human Resources or another related discipline
- Knowledge of the local Labour Market as well as the local community resources
- Comfort inputting information directly into the database during client interactions
- Comfort with automation, changing processes, and making them more efficient
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and networking skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving ability
- The ability to direct, guide, and motivate others
- One of the following preferred:
- Diploma in a Career and Work Counsellor Program
