**Job Highlight**

The Program Coordinator provides support, advocacy, referrals, and assistance to Black, Caribbean and African diasporic survivors of intimate partner, domestic and sexualized violence. This position is responsible for crisis intervention, safety planning, outreach, education, and planning and facilitating weekly support group sessions for youth and adult survivors. Coordinate a range of culturally specific programming that meets the unique needs of Black and African survivors including adult and youth. The Program Coordinator works collaboratively with other anti-violence and Black and African serving organizations and agencies to advance effective responses to survivors’ needs.

**Summary**

The Program Coordinator brings a wealth of resources and networks to support Black women, girls, femmes and transfeminine people, providing increased knowledge of and access to anti-violence services and expedited service due to the removal of structural barriers and continuity of care grounded in their lived experiences.

**You’ll Be Responsible For**
- Conducting intimate partner, domestic violence and sexualized violence community outreach and education.
- Providing support, advocacy, referral, and case management services to intimate partner, domestic violence/sexual assault survivors.
- Working with survivors to create, implement, monitor, and update individual safety plans.
- Assisting survivors in emergency situations to obtain shelter, financial assistance, and other basic needs.
- Recruiting participants and work with the BWSS team to facilitate weekly support group sessions.
- Maintaining accurate files, progress notes, data entry, submit timely monthly reports and paperwork to meet administration requirements.
- Assisting survivors with obtaining legal assistance; interface with the Justice Centre at BWSS and other legal supports to guide survivors through multiple systems.
- Assisting survivors with accessing other services including interfacing with Advancing Women’s Awareness Regarding Employment at BWSS to access job training and other services such as counselling, housing, medical services, etc.
- Networking with other providers to help survivors access community resources.
- Recruiting, selecting, training and overseeing program volunteers.
- Making recommendations to the supervisor regarding the program development, and program evaluation.
- Monitoring program expenses and preparing budget expense reports.

**Education and Experience**
- Minimum two years paid experience working with survivors of Domestic Violence.
- Completion of BWSS Violence Prevention and Intervention training program and successful completion of the practicum or related continuing education is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of diversity of people of African descent.
- Experience working with Black, Caribbean, African diasporic survivors.
- Demonstrated track record in advocacy, with ability to navigate multiple systems to ensure seamless services.
- Demonstrated respect for others’ experiences, opinions, language, values, culture, and knowledge.
- Ability to navigate and handle complicated situations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of contributing factors to gender-based violence among Black, Caribbean, African diasporic survivors, and best practices in addressing their needs to bring about equitable outcomes.
- Attend continued education training on advocacy on gender-based violence.
- Experience working with communities of color and people from different cultures than your own.
- Ability to Identify and understand the broader context of a situation.
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.
- Respect for others’ experiences, opinions, language, values, culture, and knowledge.
- Demonstrated organizational and outreach skills.
- Good verbal and written skills in English.
- Available for some evening and weekend hours.
- Your definition of a woman includes transgender, Two-Spirit, cisgender, intersex, transfeminine and femme individuals.
- You understand the importance of communication, collaboration, and integrity forms the basis of your approach to interpersonal and professional relationships.
- Your approach includes an analysis and practice that creates opportunities for increased accessibility for survivors who have disabilities.
