As the Medical Office Assistant is the first point-of-contact with patients; exceptional customer service skills are a must to ensure all patients are shown compassion, discretion, and understanding during their visit. The position combines administrative support with as well as patient patient care in the clinic setting. The Medical Office Assistant exercises judgment and utilizes knowledge of efficient medical office processes and procedures to support primary care physicians.

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Answer phones, book appointments and check in patients
- Handle all intake documents and processes
- Schedule appointments while managing clinic schedules
- Triaging patients on the phone to book appointments appropriately
- Communicate with patients on behalf of the physicians
- Follow up and chase urgent recalls as per physician request
- Collect payments from patients for uninsured services
- Processing specimens appropriately
- Working in our After Hours Clinic, evenings and Saturdays-as assigned (Shift premium for this)
- Obtaining patients vitals/weights
- Accurate documentation in the EMR
- Potential to work 1:1 with Family Physicians and Nursing staff in clinical setting.

- Passionate about personal learning, training and ongoing development
- Computer Proficiency in Telus PS Suite EMR system an asset, however will train
- Completion of an accredited college program in “Medical Office Assistant / Administration” or have other specialized education in the field of “Medical Office Administration” that the Employer determines to be equivalent in order to be qualified to perform the work, would be an asset
- _**Must have up to date vaccinations, including COVID vaccinations**_.
- Initiate and maintain confidential medical files and records
- Ensure standards and accuracy are met in all tasks
- Able to effectively multi task in a fast paced environment.
