**The Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Manager, the Clinical Leader Development acts as a resource to interdisciplinary team members by identifying, prioritizing, implementing, and evaluating strategies that support competency development and maintenance of team members. Working in collaboration with the Pediatric Critical Care Team, the Clinical Leader Development facilitates a learning environment whereby team members are supported to work to their full scope of practice and/or scope of employment. The Clinical Leader Development has overall responsibility for the coordination of orientation and ongoing continuing education associated with new and returning staff, new preceptors, practice and equipment changes, quality initiatives, and family-centered care. The Clinical Leader Development demonstrates excellence in leadership, role-modeling, communication and organizational skills, problem-solving, and decision-making.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Facilitates ongoing orientation and learning for new and transferring staff, as well as learner placement initiatives.
- Demonstrates support and commitment to professional development.
- Mentors staff through supporting, teaching, role modeling, and coaching.
- Mentors preceptors in the competency development process for new staff.
- Identifies clinical issues requiring staff education and works collaboratively with the Pediatric Critical Care Team to address learning needs.
- Role models professional practice and promotes best practice.
- Acts as a clinical resource for staff in patient/family care issues.

**Hours of Work**:
Monday - Friday (8:00 am - 4:00 pm), some evenings and weekends as required.

**Your Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required. Compensatory experience and education will be considered.
- Registered, or eligible to be registered, with Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN) required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in pediatric critical care required.
- Current successful completion of a Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Basic Life Support (BLS) Program within the last 12 months, or successful completion of a BLS Renewal Challenge Certificate, required.
- Recent experience with a preceptor role is an asset.
- CNA Certification in Critical Care Nursing is an asset.
- Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning required.
- Completed continuing education in adult education/learning, leadership, or team training an asset.
- Demonstrated time management, communication (verbal and written), organizational and interpersonal skills required.
- Demonstrated leadership, delegation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills involving innovation/creativity in solution development.
- Proven team building, leadership, goal development, and evaluation skills.
- Competency in other languages is considered an asset.
