The Centre for Research & Education on Violence Against Women & Children (CREVAWC) was founded in 1992 as a collaborative venture between The University of Western Ontario, Fanshawe College and the London Coordinating Committee to End Women Abuse. The Centre was established in response to a federal study on the problem of violence against women, prompted by the 1989 murder of 14 women at École Polytechnique in Montreal.
**Responsibilities**:
The Research Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator to manage the production of the required deliverables. They will be responsible for planning the timing of tasks and monitoring progress, managing documentation, maintaining records of activities and decisions. They will be responsible for engaging team members, coordinating schedules across time zones, setting up meetings of the project team and subcommittees, overseeing progress on deliverables, planning logistics of in-person and Zoom meetings and hiring interpreters. They will provide guidance to team members, either through personally providing support or through assessing how to best meet the team member’s needs and connecting them with appropriate supports. They will prepare reports for sign off and review by the Principal Investigator. They will assist in organizing and conducting a literature review and in developing training curriculum.
**Qualifications**:
**Education**:
- Graduate Degree (Masters); Project Management Professional certification preferred
- Experience:
- 2 years' work experience in a related field
Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
- Key skills related to researching and writing literature reviews, including research skills; critical thinking skills; reading, understanding and summarizing scholarly articles and grey literature
- Ability to conduct research on and critically assess existing training programs related to gender-based violence, including intimate partner violence
- Knowledge of and/or experience with gender-based violence, including intimate partner violence, prevention and intervention initiatives
- Knowledge of general office procedures including records management systems
- Ability to establish effective routines for excellent communication with all members of the team to maximize productivity
- Proven ability and natural inclination to interact with people in professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
- Self-motivated multi-tasker with strong organizational skills
- Positive, outgoing attitude with genuine service orientation toward project collaborators/team members
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative and follow through on work assignments
- Familiarity with University policies and procedures preferred
- Written and verbal communication skills to clearly express ideas in an objective manner, and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience
- Familiarity with best practices in building a strong collaborative team and leading people
- Familiarity with project life cycles
- Familiarity with techniques for planning, managing and coordinating multiple projects, with competing priorities that involve a variety of stakeholders
- Project management skills to ensure team roles are clear, milestones are communicated and deadlines are met
- Familiarity with best practices for change management
- Communication skills to clearly and effectively interact with all levels of the organization
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Results-oriented with the ability to motivate and coach employees to meet high performance standards
- Ability to interact professionally with students, staff, faculty, and other members of the University community
- Strong client focus with a desire to achieve results
