Program Coordinator, Student Advocacy and Wellness

**Description**
The **Student Advocacy and Wellness Hub** in the **Cumming School of Medicine** is currently seeking a Full-time Regular **Program Coordinator**.
This position reports to the Manager, Student Advocacy and Wellness Hub.
The Program Coordinator for the Student Advocacy and Wellness Hub (SAWH), University of Calgary, Cumming School of Medicine (CSM), plays a pivotal role responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating programs and initiatives aimed at promoting student well-being, advocacy, and support for all CSM learners. The Program Coordinator plays a key role in enhancing the services provided by the Hub and creating a positive and inclusive environment. This role requires a passionate and driven individual who can make a significant impact on the well-being and success of our student community.
**Summary of Key Responsibilities** (job functions include but are not limited to):
Program Development and Implementation:
- Identify and assess the needs of CSM learners to develop targeted wellness programs addressing the diverse needs of the student community
- Plan, organize, and implement programs, workshops, events, and campaigns on mental health, self-care, diversity, and other relevant topics
- Manage Student Advocacy and Wellness programs, including Peer-to-Peer Support, Neurodiversity events, and the Menstrual Equity initiative at the Foothills campus
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure program effectiveness and alignment with the Student Advocacy and Wellness Hub's goals
- Contribute to long-term planning efforts to ensure the sustainability and continuous improvement of student wellness initiatives
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills to address challenges proactively
- Oversee multiple projects and priorities to ensure efficient coordination and execution
- Strategize, implement, and manage student wellness initiatives independently and effectively
Student Engagement and Support:
- Serve as the primary contact for students interested in hub programs, offering information and guidance
- Collaborate with students and residents to manage the Student-Run Tutoring program, and promote engagement through social media, University platforms, newsletters, and campus events
- Provide support and resources to students in hub programs, ensuring their needs are met and their feedback is incorporated for continuous improvement
- Identify at-risk students and implement intervention strategies to support their well-being
Collaborative Partnerships:
- Establish and maintain partnerships with other campus departments, student organizations, and external agencies to enhance program offerings and expand resources available to students
- Collaborate with these stakeholders to coordinate joint events, initiatives, and awareness campaigns that promote student well-being and advocacy
- Participate on relevant committees and meetings to contribute to the development of campus-wide strategies and policies related to student support
- Assist with CSM faculty wide wellness events when required
- Support the Student Advocacy and Wellness Hub Team with travel coordination, expense reports, and other related administrative duties
Program Evaluation and Reporting:
- Develop and implement evaluation methods to assess the effectiveness and impact of the programs and initiatives
- Collect, analyze, and report data on program outcomes, participant feedback, and key metrics to inform decision-making and improve program offerings
- Prepare regular reports on program activities, accomplishments, and recommendations for future improvements
- Utilize highly developed organizational abilities to manage various aspects of student wellness programs effectively
**Qualifications / Requirements**:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience, with at least one year in an undergraduate medical education setting preferred
- Strong critical thinking, judgment, and decision-making skills
- Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and organizational abilities
- Ability to manage stressful situations calmly and professionally
- Excellent time management, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- High level of discretion, professionalism, and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Capable of managing high-risk situations to support students and safeguard the organization's reputation
- Empathy and understanding of student needs and concerns
- Initiative, creativity, and ability to work independently
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines
- Proficient in computer and database management
