Student Wellness Advocate and Program Developer

The University of Calgary is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Student Wellness Advocate and Program Developer to join the Cumming School of Medicine's Student Advocacy and Wellness Hub. This role plays a pivotal part in promoting student well-being, advocacy, and support for all learners within the CSM.
Job DescriptionThis Full-time Temporary Relief position is approximately 1 year in duration and reports directly to the Manager, Student Advocacy and Wellness Hub.
Main Responsibilities:- Program Development and Implementation
- Identify and assess the diverse needs of CSM learners to develop targeted wellness programs.
- Plan, organize, and implement mental health, self-care, diversity, and other relevant workshops, events, and campaigns.
- Manage Student Advocacy and Wellness programs, including Peer-to-Peer Support, Neurodiversity events, and Menstrual Equity initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure program effectiveness and alignment with the Hub's goals.
- Contribute to long-term planning efforts to ensure sustainability and continuous improvement of student wellness initiatives.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills to address challenges proactively.
- Oversee multiple projects and priorities to ensure efficient coordination and execution.
- Student Engagement and Support
- Serve as the primary contact for students interested in hub programs, offering information and guidance.
- Collaborate with students and residents to manage the Student-Run Tutoring program.
- Provide support and resources to students in hub programs, ensuring their needs are met and feedback is incorporated for continuous improvement.
- Identify at-risk students and implement intervention strategies to support their well-being.
- Collaborative Partnerships
- Establish and maintain partnerships with campus departments, student organizations, and external agencies to enhance program offerings.
- Collaborate with these stakeholders to coordinate joint events, initiatives, and awareness campaigns.
- Participate on relevant committees and meetings to contribute to campus-wide strategies and policies.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in an undergraduate medical education setting.
- Strong critical thinking, judgment, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage stressful situations calmly and professionally.
- Excellent time management, prioritization, and attention to detail.
The estimated salary for this role is CAD $65,000 - $85,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. The University of Calgary offers a comprehensive benefits package, including pension plan, life insurance, and paid time off.
