Job Summary
CN sponsors some of the largest corporate DB and DC pension plans in Canada. The Pension Advisor ensures the administration of CN’s Canadian and US Defined Benefit (DB) and Defined Contribution (DC) pension plans and Executive plans (SERP). The incumbent will work closely with the pension managers to ensure that the plans are appropriately administered, governed and kept compliant.
Main Responsibilities
- Responsible for the administration and monitoring of the various pension plans, including review of retirement calculations and oversight of monthly reports and reconciliations and annual processes
- Responsible for regulatory filings
- Provide support during plan audits
- Participate in the governance of all plans
- Coordinate the various pension committees and their agenda
- Support internal stakeholders with respect to pension-related situations
- Act as a resource contact for Senior Management, Executive and/or Cross Border employees
- Ensure that plan documents are up-to-date and in compliance with applicable legislation
- Assist with the management of the resolution of special or complex administration matters
Assist in the management of services and fees of providers such as actuarial consultants, third party administrators and pension trustees
- Collaborate in the development and creation of communication and education strategies for plan participants
- Support team members on special projects and involved in the implementation of changes related to plan design
Working Conditions
The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek[PC1] from Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines and handle pressure. The role requires mínimal travel (approximately once per year) in Canada or US.
**Requirements**:
Experience
Specialty Pension Management
- Minimum 5 years of experience in pension administration
Training, certification and designation
- Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science or equivalent
- Associate or fellow of the Society of Actuaries (SOA) and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries*
