**WELCOME TO APPLEBY**
At Appleby College, we are constantly looking for new ways to help young people explore their interests and learn more about the world around them.
Our mission is to educate and enable our students to become leaders of character, major contributors to, and valued representatives of their local, national and international communities.
It is in this pursuit we are excited to launch the Next Climate Fellowship. This program aims to help students in grades 5-7 better understand climate change and environmental studies. The program also has been crafted to aid these students in developing their leadership skills so they can go on to have an impact in the fight against climate change by leveraging their own individual skills and interests to do so.

**THE ROLE**
- Instruct 10 weekday and or weekend Fellowship sessions which are 1.5 hours in length over the 10-week program
- Attend a 2-hour virtual onboarding training
- Support through teaching practice, the Mission, Vision, and Curriculum of the Climate Fellowship programme
- Ensure the content and expectations of the lessons are implemented
- Develop an appropriate level of technological expertise enabling them to function in an e-school environment
- Know and support the program polices and procedures
- Serve as a role model by being respectful, responsible, and caring
- Engage with students through the communication platform to ensure students are up to date on the progress of the program and to also share anecdotes around the interests of the cohort
- Establish a positive rapport and a solid level of understanding of student needs, while engaging the students as active learners
- Be prepared and appropriately plan for each online class ensuring video background and environment is suitable and appropriate
- Utilize appropriate methods of assessment and evaluation which are consistent with the Course of Study and approved with Program Director
- Maintain attendance roster and ensure an appropriate level of discipline with students
- Maintain an appropriate level of communication regarding student performance and progress with the student, parents, and Program Director
- Maintain and record appropriate marks and comments for each student in each class for each report card using the approved grading system
- Be a supportive, positive, and contributing member, both sharing and accepting constructive feedback
- Attend weekly preparation calls with the Program Director to ensure content is understood and questions or concerns are addressed
- Attend program orientation to be acquainted with role expectations

**WHAT YOU BRING**
- Under or Post-graduate degree in Environmental Studies, Sustainability or a similar field
- Expertise and/or knowledge in Climate Science, Environmental Studies or Sustainability
- An interest and passion for helping others learn
- Previous teaching experience is considered an asset
- Technical aptitude
