**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**
We are seeking a highly motivated, team-orientated individual to join our Ministry of Women and Gender Equity (MOWGE) team as a Program Coordinator.

Reporting to the Director of Women and Gender Equity, the primary objective of the role is to oversee and support the implementation and delivery of various programs, services, events, and activities administered by the Ministry of Women and Gender Equity (MOWGE).

**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Support management of the day-to-day operations of MOWGE.
- Consult, obtain feedback, and provide updates on Ministry activities related to MNBC and MWBC strategic plans.
- Support research and analysis of local, provincial, and national policies, programs, initiatives, and socioeconomic issues that affect the well-being of Métis women, 2SLGBTQQIA+ people and their families.
- Provide secretariat support, and/or receive and report on advice and feedback from MNBC’s 2SLGBTQQIA+ advisory committee and Métis Women BC (MWBC) council.
- Support gender-based analysis and ensure that the MWBC and 2SLBTQQIA+ people’s perspectives are being represented in negotiations, positions and frameworks created for MNBC.
- Examine existing and emerging legislation and policy development from various levels of government to uncover the potential impacts on Métis women, 2SLGBTQQIA+ people, and their families.
- Build strong relationships with funders, community organizations, provincial and federal governments, and First Nations in BC.
- Represent MNBC on various committees and tables that may include Women’s Health, Housing & Homelessness, Justice, Economic Development, Employment & Skills, Mental Health, Children & Family, Early Years, MMIWG2S, UNDRIP, and Gender-Based Violence.
- Develop reports and presentations to provincial and federal governments, community partners, and other Ministries, as needed.
- Prepare information packages, tool kits, and community event packages and mailouts, as needed.
- Assist with design and event planning for MOWGE, including provincial, regional and community events, gatherings, workshops & engagement sessions.
- Draft correspondence, position papers, project proposals, briefing notes, work-plans, and reports to MNBC management and funders.
- Draft and review print and digital materials, news releases, communications, event, and project related materials, website, and social media content, in collaboration with MNBC’s Communications department.
- Manage project budgets and track expenditures/transactions.
- Evaluate budget and activity progress to submit reports to funders and MNBC management, as needed.

**THE IDEAL CANDIDATE**
- Completion of relevant Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree (Eg. Women/Gender Studies, Indigenous Studies, Social Work, Sociology).
- Two years of recent, related experience coordinating or overseeing projects/programs in the public or not
- for-profit sectors.
- Experience working with or on issues relating to the 2SLBTQQIA+ community or Indigenous/Métis women is an asset.
- Knowledge of historical and contemporary Métis people in BC - including culture, language, issues, challenges, successes, and contributions is an asset.
- Working knowledge of social media marketing and design will be considered an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills to manage and foster good relationships, often in a trauma-informed way.
