**Coordinator, Event Programming**

Under the general supervision of the Senior Manager, Events Programming and Sponsorship Development, and within established policies, procedures and guidelines assists with festival and events from planning, development, coordination and execution, program development including research on trending visitor experiences, décor and lighting design and supports the delivery of staff and volunteer recognition and engagement programs.

Niagara Parks compensates at a rate of $27.21 to $33.45 per hour. This position also offers a comprehensive benefit and a defined benefit pension plan.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Completion of a University Degree or College Diploma in Special Events Management, Recreation & Leisure Studies, Tourism, or a related field.
- Advanced project management skills. Knowledge of business development, sponsorship, marketing, and public relations considered an asset.
- Advanced administrative skills including typing, telephone etiquette and writing reports.
- Must hold a valid Class “G” Driver’s License.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ programming development and special event experience.
- Working with décor and/or holiday lighting is considered an asset.
- Experience in the analysis, identification, development, coordination, and evaluation of guest programming experiences; in matching target market and audience needs to program development Collaboration with staff, partners and stakeholders in the context of guest program development; providing advice to managers and staff; and coordinating multi-functional teams and projects; in preparing project plans.
- Understanding of logistics such as road closures and the requirements outlined in the Ontario Traffic Manual Book 7, Ontario’s Building Code Act as it relates to temporary structures, Ontario 1 Call as it relates to locating requirements and enforcement, and the Niagara Region’s Public health as it relates to special event coordinator requirements, event execution and risk management techniques.
- Proven time management and organization skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Good oral and written communication skills with ability deal effectively with both internal and external customers.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team player; results-oriented and able to take initiative
- It is expected that the incumbent should be fully competent within (1) year on the job.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends as required.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs or 23kg.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Program Development and Execution.**
- Assists in the development and delivery of guest experiences within festival and event programs.
- Develops recommendations for creative programming in alignment with Niagara Parks mandates and annual business goals and objectives.
- Provides support for development and delivery of programming with the annual Winter Festival of Lights.
- Collaborates with staff, partners and stakeholders in product development and delivery of new projects and programs including temporary exhibits, art, and/or installations through to completion and post analysis.
- Identifies opportunities where projects can be leveraged to increase revenue.
- Provides regular updates on trends and enhancements and best practices.
- Assists in the preparation of plans and budgets.
- Supports the work of multi-functional teams.

**Staff Program Development and Execution.**
- Coordinates and assists in the leadership of Niagara Parks Volunteer program including recruitment, retention, recognition programs and disciplinary action when required.
- Provide recommendations as to where volunteers might support Niagara Parks in workload without impact Niagara Parks employment contracts and agreements.
- Ensure volunteers are appropriately trained for tasks as required.
- Manage scheduling and delivery of service or coordinate supervision where applicable.
- Assists in the development and execution of NPC employee events including creative development, planning, engaging staff volunteers, budgeting, and post event analysis.
- Staff events include but are not limited to a retirement dinner, staff picnic, Take Our Kids to Work Day, United Way events and Holiday events.
- Collaborates with Management in developing strategies to encourage staff attendance and employee engagement within events.
- Assists in creating a strategy to raise funds for United Way within the Employee team.

**Project and Event Coordination.**
- Fulfills a wide range of administrative functions including composing internal and external communications, coordinating materials, maintaining databases and project tracking.
- Creates and updates project documentation (schedules, working documents) and reports project progress to the Senior Manager.
- Promotes and facilitates employee committees to execute NPC Employee events.
