Compensation Range

$4,688.67 - $6,754.00 CAD Monthly

The Compensation Range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for a position. The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum and represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.

Job Summary

Organizational Status

Reports to the HR Manager, Recruitment and Attendance. May also take direction from an HR Coordinators.

Work Performed
- Responsible for streamlining the administrative processes that are associated with the recruitment cycle for positions within SHCS.
- Communicates with Hiring Managers to advise and make decisions on qualifications for positions.
- Answers questions from applicants.
- Conducts and analyzes surveys of applicants and hiring managers to choose efficient and innovative recruiting and hiring methods. Collaborates with the HR Coordinator and HR Manager, Recruitment and Attendance to provide input into the overall recruiting strategy.
- Reviews and makes recommendations for improvement of recruitment materials and processes. Drafts recruitment materials including (interview questions, scoring key, in-basket testing and reference check forms.)
- Assists hiring managers with interviews as appropriate.
- Conducts reference checks and reports results to managers.
- Monitors and applies HR recruiting best practices.
- Provides analytical and well documented recruiting reports to the rest of the team.
- Promotes UBC reputation as a top employer in BC.
- Prepares and occasionally delivers presentations to small and large audiences of prospective student employees to support recruitment events and fairs.

Consequence of Error/Judgement

Poor decisions, judgment or errors would adversely affect the reputation of the SHCS as well as the University of British Columbia. This position is able to handle a high volume of enquiries requiring very careful attention to detail and adherence to best HR practice in a delicate balance with Departmental requirements.

Supervision Received

Reports to the HR Manager, Recruitment and Attendance. May also take direction from the HR Coordinators.

Minimum Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of two to three years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- Technology fluency with proficiency in MS Office Suite and standard office software is required.
- Able to manage internal and external stakeholder relationships; strong negotiation skills required.
- Hands on experience with various selection processes (video interviewing, phone interviewing, reference check etc).
- Proven work experience as a Recruiter (either an in-house recruiter or a staffing agency recruiter).
- Good working knowledge of online modes of communication and learning, including the use of webinars and social media. Experience with Zoom or Microsoft Teams is an asset.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving skills with demonstrated attention to detail.
- Ability to exercise professional judgment, diplomacy and have excellent interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills (oral, written and presentation).
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a high-functioning team in a fast-paced/results/KPI-driven environment.
- Ability to take initiative and exercise resourcefulness.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
