What you will do.
The Chargeback & Deductions Analyst will have a clear understanding regarding payments, including chargebacks and deductions. Working closely with the sales team, the analyst must ensure that chargebacks are expected and legitimate as per our agreements. They will also have an understanding of deductions, being responsible for resolving these in a timely manner while identifying areas that require process improvement. They will analyze, validate, resolve, and report on all customer deductions in an accurate and timely manner with a focus on deduction prevention.

The role in more details.

**Chargebacks**:

- Obtain backup for all chargebacks and identify their nature for proper recording.
- Work closely with sales team to ensure contractual chargebacks are consistent with customer agreements and promotional chargebacks have been approved.
- Prepare monthly analysis of chargebacks comparing to expectations.
- Reserve confidentiality of sensitive information.

**Deductions**:

- Obtain backup and explanations for deductions charged.
- Review compliance issues with relevant internal departments (mostly warehouse and shipping) in order to identify invalid deductions and maximize future compliance.
- Dispute invalid deductions within the claim's expiration timeframe and follow through until resolved.
- Resolve all disputes pertaining to returns/damage claims/freight/shortages/EDI transmissions and proofs of delivery.
- Prepare monthly analysis of deductions, highlighting areas where improvements are required.

What you have to do to get here.
- 3+ Years of experience in accounting related field with understanding of chargebacks and deductions.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is an asset.
- Proficient in reading, creating and understanding analytical data
- Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office platforms.
- Strong diplomatic, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Forward thinking approach to changing internal and external customer behaviors to streamline workload and enhance recoveries for the business.
- Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Possess a high level of moral judgment for handling confidential information and monetary transactions.
- Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, problem solving and execution skills.
- Excellent teamwork and team building skills.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, key business partners, and government agencies.
