**Events Manager (14-month maternity leave coverage) - NAIT Students’ Association**

**Position Status**: Full-Time (37.50 hours per week), Temporary, Expected end date November 15, 2024, Monday to Friday, flexible hours with some evenings and an occasional weekend may be required

**About NAITSA**

The NAIT Students’ Association (NAITSA) is a registered non-profit organization that exists to provide services, representation and leadership to students enrolled in credit and apprenticeship programs in one of Canada's largest polytechnic institutions, the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT). Within NAITSA is our Campus Life department, responsible for curating the ultimate student life experience by delivering vibrant extra-curricular and co-curricular opportunities for NAIT students.

**The Opportunity**

**What you will be doing**

Reporting to the Campus Life Director, the responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to, the following:

- Develop and manage a dynamic calendar of student events throughout the academic year, including overseeing the execution of all events planned for the 2023-2024 academic year.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of part-time student event coordinators, part of the Ooks Life Team (OLT), while fostering an environment of professional growth and team cohesion.
- Assess performance, complete reviews and provide feedback and training as required.
- Participate in the recruitment of Ooks Life Team members 2024-2025 in January/February.
- Collaborate with Campus Life leadership, student leaders, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to plan and execute events that cater to the diverse needs of the student population for the 2024-25 academic year.
- Oversee all aspects of event planning and management, including concept development, logistics, budgeting, charters, and post-event evaluations.
- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate contracts with vendors and service providers ensuring quality of service and cost-efficiency.
- Ensure all events comply with health and safety standards, as well as institutional policies and guidelines.
- Maintain open communication lines with all stakeholders to ensure events meet desired outcomes and provide an engaging student experience.
- Evaluate event outcomes based on feedback and analytics to continuously improve future events.
- Conduct and/or participate in regular team meetings to review progress, address concerns, and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

**Qualifications & Skills**
- Post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree in Event Management, Business Administration, Hospitality, or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in event coordination/management or related field.
- Experience managing a team, preferably in a post-secondary setting is an asset.
- Experience working with students in a post-secondary setting is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with an ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Budget management experience and financial acumen.
- Proficiency in using various software programs and technology including Google Workspace.
- Proactive problem solver with a hands-on, can-do attitude.
- Excellent time management skills and able to work independently
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, as required for meetings, events, etc.
- References and Security Clearance: Employment in this position is conditional upon successful completion of references and a Canadian Criminal Record check
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
