**TITLE***: Safety Coordinator**

**HOURS OF WORK**: Full-time position; Days

**WAGE RANGE**: Class 4 - $62,136.42 - $74,563.92 per annum + benefits/pension

Reporting to the Safety Leader, Occupational Health, Safety & Wellness this position focuses on supporting, auditing, evaluating, maintaining, and improving systems and processes to ensure a safe and healthy workplace and meet legislative obligations under the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and its Regulations.

**PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES**:
- Provides support to ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and applicable regulations.-
- Works collaboratively with hospital management and OHSW team members in the development, delivery, upkeep and implementation of health and safety policies, procedures and establishing best practices.-
- Supports and contributes to the development of corporate safety initiatives.-
- Evaluates, audits and assesses program compliance with current proactive and reactive Health and Safety Programs in place at KHSC to monitor their effectiveness, identifying opportunities for improvement.- Runs health and safety reports and analyses/assess trends (e.g. score card data, annual safety report)
- Supports the Joint Health and Safety Committees across the hospital sites as well as Health and Safety Representatives from Satellite locations (e.g. agenda preparation, JHSC minutes, preparing/providing standardized health and safety reports, etc.).
- Administrator for the employee incident reporting database (RL Datix). Accountable for form and database updates and maintenance

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Minimum required education is completion of Community College Diploma (3 year program) or equivalent with a Certificate, diploma or degree in an Occupational Health and Safety field-
- CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation is an asset-
- 1-3 years of experience in a similar role-
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize, be flexible, and multi-task-
- Ability to problem solve and make decisions independently; self-awareness of own limitations and when other resources need to be engaged.-
- Strong interpersonal/communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and tactfully both oral and written; ability to articulate problem(s), need(s), request(s) clearly and succinctly to health care practitioners, unions, etc.-
- Intermediate computer skills (to be tested) for the purpose of working with/analyzing/manipulating data-
- Experience with electronic documentation as asset-
- Satisfactory criminal background check with vulnerable sector search**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**:
