About Musqueam

**Duties**: Youth Outreach Worker

**As a member of Musqueam Indian Band’s Health Care Team**:

- This position provides capacity building opportunities for Musqueam youth to promote healthy lifestyles and develop self-esteem through cultural awareness and cultural teachings, and an array of educational workshops developed by the Health Department team - the Community Health Nurse, the NNADAP workers,
- Traditional and cultural activities provided in coordination with the Language and Culture department
- Recreational activities developed with the Recreation Department and Active Kids with the long-term goal of supporting children and youth to live healthy lifestyles.

**Job Knowledge**:
The work requires the following knowledge, skill and/or abilities:

- Child & Youth Care Diploma
- Knowledge and experience of similar program delivery preferably in the context of First Nations culture is required.
- This position requires tact, good judgment and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Conditions for continued employment include a healthy lifestyle and successful completion of a criminal records clearance check.

**Relationships**:

- Contacts are for the purpose of influencing others with respect to programming, including funding, new programs and research initiatives and engaging with political and community leaders to seek their involvement in and support for existing and new program initiatives.
- Contacts with staff are for the purpose of providing leadership in program delivery excellence and to support interest-based consensus-building and effective resolution of workplace disputes and complaints.

**Working Conditions**:

- Work is performed in an office environment, as well as doing recreational activities in community - all COVID-19 safety measures will be applied to this position
