**Position Summary**

Joining Gilda’s Club Simcoe Muskoka, you will become part of a fast-paced and dedicated team that works together, _So that no one faces cancer alone_.

Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Volunteer Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring we deliver a quality volunteer program that supports Gilda’s Club's strategic plan. We are looking for a personable, enthusiastic, and committed individual who is excited to join a hard-working, mission-driven team.

**Key areas**:

- Responsible for volunteer recruitment, orientation, engagement, ongoing education, and recognition activities.
- Acts as the primary contact for volunteers while supporting outreach and communications to ensure strong relationships are built with key community partners.
- Participates in the development and implementation of a volunteer recruitment plan.
- Responds to volunteer inquiries.
- Completes initial volunteer interviews.
- Completes reference checks.
- Conduct volunteer orientation sessions.
- In collaboration with the team, organizes and facilitates volunteer training programs and education opportunities.
- In collaboration with the team, organizes and facilitates food and material shopping for the program and clubhouse.
- Represent Gilda’s Club Simcoe Muskoka at volunteer fairs and community events, including speaking roles where needed.
- Organizes the volunteer appreciation events.

**What we are looking for**:

- Experience working with volunteer teams, including recruitment, scheduling, and management.
- An individual who is organized and able to work independently, representing volunteer needs and concerns in balance with organizational goals and objectives.
- Proven administration skills with strong attention to detail, ability to think ahead and proactively plan for future needs.
- Communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
- A motivated self-starter with integrity and commitment to service and excellence, sound judgment, and confidentiality.

**Qualifications**:

- A minimum requirement of two years of professional experience working with and managing volunteers, ideally in a not-for-profit environment.
- A college diploma or University degree or related work experience with a focus on volunteer management would be an asset.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
- Computer proficiency and knowledge of database software.
- An in-depth knowledge of the communities in Simcoe County, York Region, and Muskoka.
- Experience with diverse populations and cultures.
