**Job Summary**:
Salary Pending Review

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Transformation, the Development Industry Consultant is responsible for planning & executing government and industry engagement and advocacy activities for the residential development industry, to support the Department and the Corporation.

**Education**:

- Post-secondary degree in Business and/or Public Administration, Commerce, Economics, Planning or a related professional field.

**Knowledge**:

- 10 years’ experience in planning, economic development, investment/banking and/or government/business relations.
- Proven ability in the following:

- Establishing and maintaining relationships with individuals and stakeholder groups.
- Public policy analysis and development
- Proven success for development approvals with diverse and challenging projects is preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of:

- Legislative processes at all levels of government related to Planning and Development.
- Municipal planning; functions, priorities and key stakeholder groups.
- Development and investment industry; trends, objectives and risks.
- Pro-formas; preparation and analysis.
- Highly developed research, writing and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to understand and interpret legislative provisions.
- Full member of the Canadian Institute of Planners and Registered Professional Planner in Ontario is preferred.
- Certification as a Registered Professional Planner or equivalent is preferred.
- Knowledge of the not-for-profit housing sector is an asset.
- Other relevant professional designation (investment banking, business commerce, economic development) is preferred.

**Responsibilities**:
**_ Policy, Engagement, and Advocacy. Contribute to and execute the Region's policy, engagement and advocacy strategies and programs for the development and investment industry and the not-for profit sector to drive more growth and affordable housing, aimed at governments (provincial & municipal), other municipal and regional partners and key residential development and investment industry stakeholders. (40% of time)_**:

- Provide counsel to the CAO and Commissioners with regard to development and investment related: trends, new or changing legislation and highly complex and sensitive issues, including recommended actions and solutions.
- Advise senior leadership and make recommendations, which contribute to and shape significant policies, procedures and programs that support development growth and more affordable housing.
- Serve as an expert resource for development information by reviewing legislation and providing recommendations to effected program areas.
- Develop, coordinate and implement development related policies, procedures and programs.
- Manage planning process for the redevelopment of Regional lands for affordable housing opportunities, including considerations of needs assessment, economic development, surrounding uses and proximity to infrastructure.
- Prepare budget proforma for projects; make recommendations to senior management and committees on properties to develop and/or purchase.
- Effectively manage the advancement of sites for redevelopment or disposition for the purposes of affordable housing or
