**Associate Manager, Communications**
**35 HOURS PER WEEK**

Covenant House helps youth ignite their potential and reclaim their lives. As Canada’s largest agency serving youth who are homeless, trafficked or at risk, we offer the widest range of services to hundreds of young people every day. More than a place to stay, we provide 24/7 crisis shelter and transitional housing on-site and in the community, along with comprehensive services including education, counselling, health care, employment assistance, job training and after-care. Since 1982, Covenant House has supported more than 100,000 young people.

As a national leader, we educate and advocate for long-term change to improve the lives of vulnerable youth. This includes influencing public policy, leading awareness and prevention programs and continually building and sharing our knowledge. As a learning organization, we strive for excellence and programs with impact.

We provide life-changing care with unconditional love and respect. We meet youth's immediate needs and then we work together to achieve their future goals.

Thanks to our donors, who contribute 80 per cent of our $44.2-million annual operating budget, we are able to deliver these comprehensive programs and services.

**Purpose of the position**: This position is to provide consistent and excellent brand-focused content and, support the development and advancement of our leadership position to lead change that supports and empowers youth who are homeless, trafficked or at risk to pursue a life of wellness and opportunity.

**Responsibilities**

**_
Multi-channel content development: 30%_**
- Write and edit content for multi-channel use, including the agency’s annual report, e-newsletters, e-blasts, blog posts and web content.
- Assist with social media content development for campaigns and projects and lead community management for these campaigns.
- Support our program areas with the development of communications collateral and presentations.
- Assist in the development of briefs and scripts for video content.
- Help with updating corporate website and microsite online content, as needed.

Project management: 20%_**
- Managing our annual report, which includes writing and copy-editing content, leading internal approvals, managing our vendor relationships, and keeping the project on-schedule and on-budget.
- Project manage the development, design and content for print and digital communication products.

Research and writing: 20%_**
- _ Conduct research and review various industry and market analysis to help with positioning content._
- _ Proactively lead the monitoring of charity reviews of the agency and provide recommended actions to improve our scores_**_. _**:

- Help establish the agency’s annual impact narrative by consolidating relevant statistics to demonstrate how the agency is meeting the emerging complex needs of the youth served.
- _ Work with program staff to analyze and break down complex information in a clear and concise way for a lay audience on multi channels._
- Respond to written and telephone inquiries from the public and donors.
- Work with staff to develop technical content for Traffick Stop and for use in our program areas

Strategy: 20%_**
- Assist in the development and roll-out of Communications strategies and plans for campaigns, programs, initiatives and events.
- Assist in the development and evaluation of our annual departmental plans.
- Lead the development and review of creative and tactical briefs for projects to ensure alignment with strategy and client needs.

Brand management: 10%_**
- Ensure all communications products align with our brand look and feel, in addition to language guidelines.
- Support other teams in aligning their work with current brand guidelines.

**Qualifications**
- At least five years of related work experience.
- University degree or college diploma in journalism, communications or public relations.
- Proficiency in MS Office, WordPress and professional use of social media channels (esp. Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Instagram) required.
