JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the designated manager, the position is responsible for developing and implementing communication and engagement strategies across TPL’s digital and physical channels to advance the organization’s goals.
- DUTIES:

- Leadership Functions:
- Lead content strategy development, planning and delivery across channels
- Oversee the coordination and alignment of content across the organization, working with content creators, service owners and other stakeholders
- Recommend, as appropriate, new, measurable ways to market library service and engage with audiences across digital and physical channels
- Work with internal stakeholders to ensure communications meet organizational objectives
- Identify and report on digital communication trends and advise on potential opportunities or risks
- Train and supervise staff on how to develop content and engage audiences with a particular focus on digital channels, platforms and communities
- Supervise staff on channel and content teams and provide support to content contributors
- Direct staff including setting performance standards and providing verbal input to performance appraisals

Service Functions:
- Effectively reflect the library brand across a variety of channels
- Design innovative, measurable communications and marketing strategies, campaigns and programs to build awareness, engagement and fulfillment among audiences and stakeholders
- Maintain editorial oversight over system-wide physical and digital channel communications
- Develop and maintain internal and external coordinated content calendars with capacity to reflect and respond to organizational priorities
- Ensure best practices, guidelines and standards are met and relevant policies are adhered to
- Develop clear and compelling communications to support and delivery library projects and initiatives
- Lead the division in setting and tracking overall performance measurement and analytics to measure the success of strategies, programs and audience engagement on a regular basis
- Ensure adherence to relevant policies and guidelines, including online and social media policy, CASL policy and editorial guidelines
- QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma from an accredited institution
- Minimum five years' professional experience developing and measuring communications and/or marketing content across a broad range of physical and digital channels
- Proven experience developing communications and/or marketing strategies and plans
- Proven experience in content planning and editorial oversight
- Proven ability to lead and supervise staff
- Proven communication skills including excellent writing (in particular for an online environment), editorial oversight, presentation skills and the ability to work with many stakeholders to achieve a goal
- Proven coaching and training skills
- Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and flexibility
- Ability to work creatively, take initiative and solve problems
- Proven knowledge of communication trends and tools, including media and digital communications
- Understanding and appreciation of the philosophy of public service to all, in accordance with human rights legislation and the principles of equity and access in the delivery of library service
