Health administrators and policy experts rely on CADTH to inform their decisions about the funding and appropriate use of the drugs, devices, and services used to prevent, diagnose, and treat medical conditions.

**Primary Focus**

Reporting to the Director, Pharmaceutical Policy and HTA, the Formulary Management Officer will work closely with the pan-Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance (pCPA) and jurisdictional representatives to facilitate the optimization of public drug formularies by identifying opportunities for harmonization, rationalization, reassessment, and disinvestment. The Formulary Management Officer will be responsible for developing topics and CADTH products to address the aforementioned opportunities and will work closely with the Pharmaceutical Review team to facilitate execution of formulary management initiatives.

**On any given day, the Formulary Management Officer will**:

- Proactively identify opportunities for CADTH products to be used to establish formulary management strategies, such as preferential listing status, discrete lines of therapy, and situations where multiple products should be required to compete for reimbursement
- Monitor developments in Canadian politics and the health system, and advances in health technology to identify trends that will impact jurisdictions, their formularies, and reimbursement
- Identify situations where coverage status, clinical criteria, and conditions could be harmonized across drug plans
- Liaise with the participating jurisdictions to identify situations where obsolete drugs are currently listed and coordinate reassessment of such drugs across jurisdictions
- Access and analyze real-world data to better understand utilization within the jurisdictions, and to evaluate the impact of formulary management initiatives
- Build and maintain a network of key stakeholders (e.g., clinical experts, advocates and disease specialty groups) for participation in topic identification and development of projects in priority areas

**The Formulary Management Officer will likely have**:

- A graduate degree in a health-related discipline plus a minimum of 4 to 5 years relevant experience
- Knowledge and understanding of health technologies, health technology assessment (drug and non-drug), and knowledge mobilization strategies and how to best maximize the uptake and impact of evidence-based information in the health sector in Canada
- Experience in working with utilization data, database and registries, and real-world data
- An understanding of the Canadian health care system and knowledge of decision-making processes federally, provincially, and territorially; with additional knowledge of jurisdictional drug formularies
- Strong writing, presentation, negotiation, and facilitation skill
- The ability to work, communicate, and build collaborative and productive relationships with a variety of stakeholders
- Lead by influence and demonstrate diplomacy
- Strong time management, organizational, and prioritizations skills along with solid planning and analytical skills
- Conceptual thinking and an ability to promote systems thinking to identify trends and process improvements
