**A Day in the Life **

The Associate Director, Recreation & Community Engagement is responsible for creating an engaging and inclusive environment that promotes physical activity, recreation, social connection, health and well-being among Brock students, faculty, and staff and to external stakeholders in the Brock community.

The incumbent will lead all aspects of recreation operations recreation operations, program development, staff management, student engagement, partnerships, assessment efforts, marketing and promotions, and financial and risk management. The Associate Director, Recreation & Community Engagement also contributes to the overall health and vitality of the Brock and Niagara community and supports a culture of engagement, respect, equity, diversity, and inclusion in a safe sport environment.

**As the Associate Director, Recreation & Community Engagement, you will**:

- Develop the strategic direction for Recreation, in support of the University’s mission and strategic mandates with the involvement of departmental staff and students;
- Establish goals for all operations (i.e., intramurals, programs including students, staff/faculty and community programs, aquatic programs, administrative operations, marketing; etc.);
- Develop and operate community programs to fulfill University mandate to engage the community, expose children, youth and adults to University activities, offset costs and ensure continued success of existing programs;
- Review best practices and develop strategies to accommodate advances and changes in Recreation Services field;
- Develop operating budget, forecast, manage, monitor and report on Recreation revenues and expenditures;
- Identify and proactively address risks and hazards in the workplace, participating on committees such as the Joint Health & Safety Committee and Emergency Response Team to optimize the safety of all users of the Sport and Recreation facilities at Brock;
- Work with other Departments to ensure programming and processes align and support each other’s goals and objectives;
- Oversee the design and implementation of marketing and promotional activities.

**What you need to Succeed**
- Undergraduate Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., recreation, fitness and health promotion, Kinesiology, physical education, sports management, business, etc.);
- 6-8 years of experience required in a senior management role responsible for coaching at the post-secondary level, intramural leagues, clubs, aquatics, or facility supervision including strategic management, financial planning and revenue generation, people leadership;
- 6-8 years of experience required in a leadership, manager, or supervisor role;
- Knowledge of complex University environment and interdepartmental collaboration to achieve and support goals of multiple departments and the University;
- A valid class G Driver’s License with an acceptable driver’s abstract;
- Demonstrated record of Recreation administrative oversight and experience preparing and managing budgets;
- Experience in the development of short and long-term plans for financial and programmatic improvements;
- Knowledge of Recreation trends and best practices in coaching, intramural leagues, clubs, aquatics, community programming, educational programming and facility supervision at the post-secondary level;
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders;
- Proficient in delivering training sessions and/or presentations to stakeholders at all levels, with varying backgrounds;
- Ability to assess impact of changes in revenue and expenses on operating budget and to determine creative solutions to address fiscal challenges;
- Ongoing problem solving to maximize utilization of resources while offering diverse programming to meet a wide variety of student interests.

**Preferred or Asset Skills **
- Master’s level degree

**Salary and Benefit Information**
- Job Grade (O), Salary Scale ($83,440-$143,040)*;
- Target Hiring Range: $83,440-$120,000;
- This position includes full comprehensive benefits including tuition waiver.
