Family Program Coordinator

**JOB SUMMARY**:
Committed to an empowerment, trauma-informed and strengths-based approach to serving families, the Family Program Coordinator works as part of the Children, Youth and Family Services team, to develop and coordinate programs and services to meet the needs of Tsleil-Waututh families and individuals.
The incumbent must have a good understanding of the impacts of colonization and healing-centered supports that facilitate improved social functioning, wellbeing, resilience among individuals and families.
Tsleil-Waututh Nation is in the process of re-asserting legal jurisdiction over the care of their children, youth and families. The incumbent must be flexible to supporting the transition and be part of these efforts towards reconciliation.
**Responsibilities**
- Plan and coordinate activities for individuals and families that support connections to culture and community, in collaboration with other inter-department colleagues
- Ensure the smooth execution of family programs, coordinating details such as meals, set-up, bookings, forms, community notices, orientations, and arrangement of equipment and supplies
- Support the Children, Youth and Family Services team with coordination and logistics, such as arranging family meetings or connecting families to access basic needs
- Support families to navigate programs and services and provide referrals within the Nation as well as to external resources
- Attend scheduled department staff meetings and in-service programs
- Complete and maintain all documentation/ records and reporting as required
- Develop and follow approved annual work plan
- Follow policies and procedures around privacy and confidentiality
- Perform other related duties as required
**Qualifications**:
- 1-2 years post-secondary education or demonstrated experience in program coordination, child and/or youth work, community support work, Aboriginal studies and/or cultural experience. Combination of formal and informal education, work experience, lived experience, and cultural knowledge/skills will be considered.
- Applicants should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the impact of residential schools, the 60’s scoop, and the overall impact of colonization on First Nations communities.
- Excellent verbal, written, facilitation and organizational skills.
- Applicant should demonstrate reliability, maturity and healthy role modelling.
- Ability to work collaboratively with clients, professionals, members of the community and multi-professional groups
- Demonstrated conflict resolution skills
- Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
- Tact, sound judgment and ability to manage stress.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in all interactions.
- Understand the dynamics related to working with individuals and families who have experienced or witnessed abuse, addiction, violence, etc.
- Can communicate openly, honestly and professionally with staff, clients and colleagues.

- Class 5 Driver’s License and vehicle (asset)
- Class 4 Driver’s License (asset)
- Compensation for this role ranges from $42,513 - $50,016, based on qualifications and experience.
