Perform all secretarial and administrative duties with respect to the Infection Prevention & Control Service. Duties may originate as a result of the respective of the Medical Director or manager of Infection Prevention and Control work for KGH. Within this role the employee is accountable for contributing to the delivery of the Kingston General Hospital strategy. As an employee, one must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for actively promoting and supporting patient and family centered engagement and care in all we do.

**DUTIES AND**
**_RESPONSIBILITIES:_**
- Researches, prepares, types and distributes various reports for the IPAC Service.
- Maintains documentation related to all IPAC Service policies and procedures - review and revision dates and any updates.
- Attend, transcribe, type and maintain files of minutes of meetings within the IPAC Service and Antimicrobial Stewardship Program including KGH Infection Control, IPAC Team meetings, Outbreak Meetings and Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee.
- Types all correspondence and outside committee work for the Medical Director or Manager of IPAC Service.
- Provides secretarial support for the IPAC Service as directed by the Medical Director of Manager of IPAC.
- Assemble material for outbreak meetings, various conferences (rounds) as directed.
- Maintains appointment schedules for IPAC Manager.
- Types reports, briefing notes submissions for various meetings and committees.
- Books appointments, teleconferences and webinars for the IPAC Service.
- Answers telephone calls to the IPAC Service and redirects inquiries to the most appropriate IPAC Team member.
- Opens; sorts and distributes mail received and actions as directed.
- Pulls files of relevant documents for meetings.
- Monitors and posts updates to IPAC Service data on the intranet site.
- Maintains all necessary files within the IPAC Service ensuring patient privacy requirements are met.
- Arranges transportation and accommodation for travel for IPAC Service either sponsored or supported activities by KGH.

**BASIC QUALIFICATIONS**:

- 2-year Office Administration - Medical diploma or equivalent education and experience.
- Two years medical secretarial experience in a health care environment within the last five years.
- Experience in Infection Prevention & Control and/or Pharmacy.
- Key boarding 55 wpm (tested)
- Proficient with medical and pharmaceutical terminology
- Proficient with medical transcription.
- Ability to work independently and set workload priorities.
- Ability to accept work from various sources.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to attend work regularly Proven ability to attend work regularly.
- Satisfactory criminal reference check and vulnerable sector search required.

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**

The applicant must be able to meet the physical demands of this position. This position requires extended period of sitting and working at the computer; running to the photocopier/fax machine and standing for long periods of time to pull and file patient charts.
