**About DEWC**

The Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre exists to support and empower women and children living in extreme poverty in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver. High levels of violence, homelessness, addictions and poverty characterize this community where women and children are particularly vulnerable to exploitation, injustice and injury. Through the Drop-In Centre and Emergency Night Shelter, we provide practical support to over 500 women and children daily to survive the conditions of ill health and violence that surround them.
- Facilitate and coordinate maintenance and repair needs for DEWC locations including establishing service contracts, arranging maintenance and repairs through the property management and/or service contractors, conduct routine preventative maintenance inspection of equipment.
- Collaborate with the Administrative Coordinator to ensure service contracts/lease billing and invoicing requirements are communicated and payment processed
- In collaboration with the Human Resources team, ensures logístical requirements for new staff including workstations, computers, laptops, phones, cell phones, keys, alarm codes, etc.
- Updates and maintains operational information such as phone extension list, computer/phone passwords, alarm codes, key/swipe cards, and other password records
- Establish and oversee contracts for on-going services such as janitorial, computer, telephone, photocopier, kitchen equipment, plumbing, electrical, etc.
- Support the workplace OHS program including ensuring emergency and first aid procedures are updated and supplies are maintained and OHS committee recommendations are implemented
- Ensure DEWC compliance with health and safety regulations, including fire prevention and building safety
- Maintain files of occupancy permits and health inspection reports
- Ensures DEWC is compliant with all permit and licensing requirements
- Reviews the specific needs of DEWC spaces, such as new furniture, office renovations and equipment supplies and participates in planning for the future building, space, equipment needs
- Other duties not specified that may be assigned from time to time

**About You**
- Must have at least 2 years experience in a similar role, preferable within a non-profit environment
- You are knowledgeable of the issues impacting women in the DTES, including gender based violence, mental health, homelessness, and addictions with an understanding of trauma-informed care responses
- You are able to promote DEWC mission, mandate, philosophy, and values
- Must have strong computer and IT skills including Microsoft 365
- You are an excellent communicator including report writing
- You have efficient organizational skills including record keeping, scheduling, and problem-solving abilities
